I have a 2013 Duramax that gave me a "175 mi until I'm limited to 65 mph" warning. Took it to the dealer and the couldn't find the problem so they reset the code. They tell me to bring it back it it comes on again. So three weeks later after hardly driving it at all I get in start it up and get the light again. So I head to the dealer. Two hours later they said the troubleshot it down to a NOX1 sensor that's going bad. I ask how much, $845 he says. Then tells me " Oh but we cant get the part. Their unavailable nation wide and we have no idea when we will get them in. I said so I can't take a chance of driving anywhere of any distance as if it goes into limp mode I'm screwed. He just shrugged his shoulders. Nothing but issues with this diesel. Anyone else dealing with this?

Your best bet would be to do as Yes sir says if it is out of warranty. Delete all of the DEF systems and sensors. It will save you a lot of money and headache down the road

I prefer the trucks you can work on with wrenches and screwdrivers instead of laptops

Gotta live up to the nickname...

Are you sure it has enough DEF in it? If the tank gets low they give warnings like that.

I had a "service air bag" light come on, turned out to be {surprise} some sensor. I asked my mechanic if he thought there would be a chance in Hates that this sensor could be found in an auto scrap yard. It was. If your comfortable doing this perhaps you might be able to find a sensor.

Had similar problem last Feb. it was the heater in the def fluid tank or the heater in the def line. Def fluid can freeze at 20 degress F. Mostly water and nitrogen is def fluid. Dealer claims they couldn't get parts. Started demanding a service vechile lol. An hour later they called and said parts will be in. In a few days. Was within 20 miles of going into limp mode

If you can find someone to delete it, that might be best. I’ve heard that it is hard to find someone and they’ve cracked down on it. Might call around to other dealerships and see if there really is a shortage. I’ve got a L5p so I haven’t had to deal with any of this yet.

Yes they’ve cracked down on it, from what I hear they have to get the parts from Canada to do the delete. One shop around here I know of will do it but he’ll only take cash for it an will not give a receipt for it. An that’s only if he knows you

I drive a 2006 for that very reason. I believe it's the last year before all the emissions crap. Mine has 140,000 miles on it. While camping this summer in the Black Hills, a guy stopped and wanted to buy it. He wanted to know when I redid the pickup. It's all original with no rust, dents or scratches. Another guy offered me $35,000 sight unseen. Said nope, I refuse to pay what the new ones cost. Plus, I can work on it myself.

If your vehcle is subject to emmisions inspections you don't want to yank anything off it.
