If you are interested in a predator trip that was recently offered online just west of Iowa. BEWARE. All is not as advertised. After texts assuring my partner and I were to be the only ones chasing predators. The guy invited thermal hunters and sent them to our trap locations. We pulled and came home. I'm too old for games and deceit.

Thanks E.J. we caught some yotes and I hooked a cat. The provided truck was broke, side by side was broke. The thermal guys drove farther than we did and I don't think they knew we were there either. We happened to meet one night on the road.

Is this the ad you are referencing?

"NEED A TRAPPER OR TWO. If you re looking to take a vacation to Nebraska to trap some beautiful coyotes , just let me know. I ll supply lodging, food, fuel, side by side, , etc. WE NEED COYOTES eliminated. Yeah we can shoot some of them but not nearly the numbers a couple of trappers can do. So if you want to call coyotes while the traps are doing their thing , you can do that as well. We have 50,000 acres to try to put a dent in so if you want to come stay for few weeks, month whatever please let me know. Anyone on trappers forums please share this as well."

Yet another story of the Thermal crew pushing out trappers, how disappointing. Sorry you got bamboozled.

Sorry to hear that Dean. Brings back some bad landowner-issue memories of my ancient past.

I'm actually trapping a place right now that has 4 different groups of thermal hunters actively hunting it. Some super shy and pressured coyotes. They haven't killed one in weeks, I've caught 3 in the past 6 days.

The thermal guys have no idea how many they educate/miss/never see. All it does is make my life harder having to catch coyotes that walk on eggshells

Wonder if the thermal guys are saying the trapper doesn’t know how he makes it harder for me to kill them when he’s educating and missing coyotes?

They probably do! Most thermal guys that I have dealt with aren't happy when a landowner is disappointed with their success rate and calls someone else. Might be why they don't let trappers in their coyote competitions

Well trapping was here first, and thermal hunting is very questionable in my opinion unless we are talking about hogs in Texas. I don't agree with coyote hunting with thermals at all, I think many on here have proven that they can really slay the coyotes with traps. I also see the thermal hunting as a dangerous threat to the people who trap primarily coyotes either for pleasure or ADC.

For hogs I understand why thermal hunters have gotten a real foothold, but I still would like for trappers to trap them to help manage the problem too.

I have a landowner that thermal hunts on his high fence area. I’m used to clean up, lol. We’ve both learned a high fence doesn’t keep predators out. It may slow the coyotes down some, but bobcats, fox, coon, and possums don’t seem to see it as a deterrent.
We have mainly thermal hogs hunters around here. When I get one it will be an everything with 4 legs except deer, lol.

It's not even that he invited night hunters to bounce your coyotes out of the area rather than have them settle in and work sets.

It's that he was specifically asked and it was made clear that these two good trappers didn't need a bunch of people tripping over them. He assured them they were the only ones.

So....dude lied. No misunderstanding. He lied.

From what they said on FB didn’t want coyotes killed in spring ( total ignorance) and they were gonna have trappers, thermal and greyhound guys out there. Plus NO daily pay or coverage of outta state licenses.

A lot of us trappers are hunters too. I don't expect you to understand, as you are new to trapping, but we trappers and hunters have coexisted for years together. We may not always get along but we do see eye to eye with everyone enjoying and pursuing the outdoors as seen fit.

There's nothing wrong with thermal hunters, there's nothing wrong with hunting yotes or anything for that matter with all legal means. How is it a dangerous threat? The problem here has nothing to do with thermal or any hunters. The problem is solely, the OP got lied to, swindled by a dishonest person. Don't ostracize one group of outdoors peoples to appease another.

I wonder if tap dancers walk into a room, look at the floor, and think, I'd tap that. I wonder about things.....

Well stated Catch22.
I hunt, trap and have thermal equipment for hog and predator hunting. We can all exist together.

Sorry about you getting mislead though on the trapping eedup.
