This stove was manufactured between 1880 and 1900. Still going strong.

Ain't she though, Scott. Even at $600 a ton, my heating bill is a third of what oil would cost me.

Good looking stove. I heated with stoker coal for years. The ash grate finally gave out and I went to propane. I would burn between 6 and 7 ton of coal a year. The last I bought was $110 for Wy stoker. I made a wood stove and put it in the basement where the coal furnace was. It has really cut down the amount of propane I use from what I can see so far.

Glenwood made some fine stoves and that one is a beauty. I've been looking for a cookstove. Man, 600 a ton, that's crazy! Is that anthracite coal?

I wonder if tap dancers walk into a room, look at the floor, and think, I'd tap that. I wonder about things.....

Anthracite. The price jumped $85 a ton over last years price. Trucking.

Love those old stoves. Not being from coal country, what does it require for storage needs? How much space does a winters worth occupy?

The outfitter I hunted with last year heated his house and lodge with coal.7 tons of coal @$30/ton. Imagine a heating bill of $210 dollars. As a side note, my friends neighbor got her HEAP of $800, and the fuel delivery was a whopping 110 gallons! How long do you think that will last a 75-year-old lady?

Used to be every town had a coal yard. Now best can hope for is bagged coal for blacksmithing.

A ton comes on a standard 48" by 40" pallet and probably stands four feet tall. I think that's pretty accurate. I probably go through three ton a season. I can buy it bulk but find the bags easier to deal with.

Nice stove. I heated the house with coal for 20+ years. Working in a mine, I could get coal for free. I used to take a four foot slate bar and pull down big slabs of coal off the rib line. Got huge lumps that way, no boney or dirt either.
