Does anybody know if there is post on bobcat snaring sets
I'm wondering if I should flag them like I do on my footholds

I wouldn’t put a flag right at the snare, maybe in a trail with a snare on each side of it 20 yards or so away. Better to have them walking through the snare than “inspecting “ a flag.

Set every trail /entry / exit point and place your flags accordingly.
Skunk essence is always a bonus

I would flag them like I do for lynx with my basic set being a double end brush cubby with snares at both ends and snares also hung around the set in all tight spots. With outside cubby snares you will often pick up doubles and occasionally three or more. I use basically no bait other than a squirrel or bird wing with lure on it as an in-cubby attractor. Get them coming and going. [Linked Image]

The only constant in trapping is change so keep learning.

Good luck. What size loop & height do you plan to use?

The Snare Shops online chart says 8" loop 8" off the ground for bobcat. I wonder if that's super common

8x8" is just a average starting suggestion. Bobcat size varies a lot. Southern cats are smaller then Northern cats. Big Northern Tomcats are close too a average coyote size.
We have some pretty big bobcats where I trap so a 8" loop set 10" at bottom loop is a good average for me if I'm setting for bobcats.
Good coyote snares will also catch some Big mature bobcats!

I just blind set with no flagging, bait, or lure. Find pinched down points on trails and fence them down even a little tighter. Love trails through cedars, or edge along a steep bank.
I use about a coyote sized loop with fast, loaded, light snares. I spread my hand and measure bottom of snare up a little higher than my extended pinky and thumb.

Money cannot buy you happiness, but it can buy you a trapping license and that's pretty close.
