Califonia was admitted to the Union (USA) in 1850, as a slave free state. Meaning there were not slaves in the state of California since it became part of the U.S. There were lots of slaves of African and indigenous decent when it belonged to Mexico. So my question is ..... why is Mexico not paying the reparations?

The notion of reparations reminds me of the comment phase of proposed federal land use changes. Every time some politician says they want to "discuss" whether to designate some huge tract of land as wilderness or a monument, that's really code for "we have already decided it will be wilderness/monument. We are just giving lip service to the idea that you think you have some say in the matter, and by allowing you to come and speak your mind about it, that gives us cover so we can say 'we had a full comment period and listened to all interested parties.'" In fact, they didn't listen; the comment period/process is just a formality before doing what they were going to do anyway.

The reparations thing is a done deal, I'm telling you. The die is cast. Once the conversation starts, it's too late.
