We pulled 6 sets and put out 15 more on fresh ground. We caught nothing today and I am scratching my head as to why but we have sets soaking and 3 more days left.

I have nothing clever to put here.

Going to try and get more sets out tomorrow. This snow is crazy deep. Picked up a Snowdog and it works really well getting to a few spots.

Yup going to get the hitch for the otter sled. Man it takes a little bit to figure out the steering. It’s a blast for sure. Wish I could find some fur though!!

At least it isn't cold there. This is what I showed this morning. More of that until Saturday. It is supposed to only get down to -12 Saturday night.

They didn’t move for us and it looks like yet another big storm is on the way!

I had a coyote pass by my bait station last night but it managed to avoid my snares on it's way through. Still waiting for the cat to return.

Well we ran about 40 sets on sign for 5 checks and pulled today due to the forecast storm. We ended with one Marten and a red fox in a walk thru for cats. Tough conditions and the animals didn't act the way I had hoped. It is what it is. I wanted to put a couple sets here behind the house but with -35 wind chills I think I will just stay inside instead.

Bummer to hear you had to pull but totally understand under the circumstances. What takes a few hours in fair weather can take days to do after a good snow storm.

Common sense is a not a vegetable that does well in everyone's garden.

We were without power for several hours last night due to the heavy snow load on the trees already and were afraid that with the new snow and high winds coming we may not be able to get back into some of our sets.

Once you get a good fluffy snowcover the marten go subnivean and they wont come up until a thaw or a crust keeps them from hunting under the snow.
That happened here last year.the marten went under in December and never came up til late March. They must have had a good winter last year hunting under the snow since the juvenile count is high this year. Not a track all winter then in March when they came up they were chasing rabbits all over the place.
Opposite this year here we got a crusty snow on the ground early and still onlyabout a foot and a half,so they are all over on top and they are fat.

That could be what is happening here because the snow is axle deep on a Ferris Wheel already.

I have nothing clever to put here.

Seams to me that the late november thru early dec season was more conducive to catching Marten And cats. Wish they would move it back.
