Extended checks on snares?

Weren't you guys paying attention in November? Be lucky to use snares as we know them in two years.

Also who the heck uses a bobber anymore.

Extended checks should only be done on lethal sets.
And lethal sets should only be used when there is no chance of catching a domestic animal(wilderness).

Let’s alienate the one person actually bringing good ideas to the table by saying he isn’t from here.

I don't see why we couldn't get a longer season. Lets be honest, we're basically trophy trapping with these small limits, why not have a longer season and either lower the limits or keep them the same provided the resource can sustain it.

Why would you promote a lower limit?

Can I comment from the Canadian peanut gallery;
since is it not most animals are tagged, the data is it broken down to age class of the marten/ fisher from skull data ?
I have seen some of the counties harvest data i prior reports published
Trophy hunting gets all sports with a dark spot...look no further than deer hunting, so get over the "lowering the limits "times and seasons lengths jibberish
Heaven forbid dont do more radio studies

Years back threads on here did more damage to your seasons than anything else in regulating the length and amount of harvest if some do not have long term memories.

Good shake up 49er you posted.

Basically I just want as long as a season as the resource can handle

Only non lethal sets outside of a "wilderness" area is a good idea?

Donner, the limit is two now, how much lower do you think we should go?

The limit used to be 5 and I would assume the harvest has been WAY down the last few years due to prices and the weather. I wonder at what point the limit will be raised again. I won't hold my breath.

I have nothing clever to put here.

Rob, you are old enough to remember it wasn't always 5, in fact it was 5 for only 8 years of my lifetime. Before that is was 4 and there was a time where we were only allowed 1 fisher but if I recall at that time marten were managed separate and we could also catch a couple marten.

I didn't trap marten in those days so my recollection of how many a man could catch is off

How about a new thread for rules, Regs , and check times instead of high jacking the Martin/ fisher thread?

Our season closes tomorrow so I doubt there will be many more pictures or animals harvested.

Lethal sets that catch domestics near built up areas and plastered all over the media is what has led to almost all trapping restrictions-but carry on with your freedom to be stupid.

From a guy that made part of his living trapping marten, I find all these Minnesota marten threads with all this money spent, and effort given for such a small return kind of ludicrous. Maybe it is just me? Probably?

Dirt you got that right, in today.s market.
My bottom line is very close to the break even point of returns, and I'm 7 weeks into my season with 7+ weeks left.
I am only going into it further because we have found a new species of tick Ixodes gregory on them and have yet to catch a male of the species.
So for those that are lucky please look around the ears for any ticks from sesame seed size and up and PM me for instructions.
I do get some very nice tax receipt for these specimens for my bottom line clearance
