Whats your favorite coyote round for under a 100 yards maybe 150? I have a .22 mag and a .220 swift but this is for around the house and barn. The .22 mag just seems small and if I can't get them into shotgun range then I'd like something smaller then the swift

22 mag is fine at close range. 17 hmr works at close range too. If you’re looking for a little more maybe 22 hornet? Pretty cool old round.

22 hornet really shines on those grey fox too.

I like the 22mag also.

Why do I carry 10mm? Because shooting twice is just silly.

If you reload don't push the velocity. Mine doesn't group very well on max loads. back it off a bit and moa is the result. I have friends whose rifles are the same.

No unfortunately im not set up to reload at this time.

Because this is around the house here i was trying to keep noise down so the neighbors don't react not that they'd care just prefer to be unnoticed when calling.

Might look into a can , i looked at the banish 30 but still need more research

You hit them right and they will be dead with the .22 mag and it'll be quieter than a center fire rifle. I hate to discourage you from getting a new gun though, so have you looked at a .17 wsm?

I don't own one but I always thought the .22 Hornet would make a great predator round at that range.

17 Mach 2 is a .22 case necked down to .17 17hmr is .22 mag case necked to .17. 17wsm is a remington air nailer case necked down to .17. Then there is .17 hornet which is 22 hornet parent case necked to a .17

17 hmr is one of the few available rounds available that I have found, also the most affordable. 17 wsm (Winchester super magnum) is a great coyote gun within 200 yard range, father inlaw has one. 17 hornet has about same ballistics as .223 but much less recoil and noise but is expensive to buy ammo for, however is very reasonable to reload I have heard due to low powder charge

Edit to add, quite a few manufacturers of 17 hmr. Only a couple of makers of 17 wsm, Rugar and Savage are most common. The rugar gun is in the 800-900 dollar range. The savage is cheaper. Savage calls their gun the b-mag. It is a bolt gun. When you push a shell into the chamber the bolt cocks itself at that time. It feels like you are trying to jamb an oversized bullet into the chamber. It takes some getting used to. Cz makes a 17 hornet and I believe ruger and savage does as well. The 17 Mach 2 seems to be fading out of existence.

You can add the 17 Rem to the list of 17's too. In my mind it is as god as it gets for a fur gun. You can find any ammo if you look on line. You may not like the price, but it can be had.

if you don't roll your own 223

you can find budget rifles chambered in it , you can buy it everywhere
and it can do further if you need it to

as you said barn gun that typically makes me think utilitarian purpose durable and useful but not maybe a show piece of a rifle and if it gets banged up you won't cry
