I may try this. I'm gonna case skin one, so it might be easier for ME to flesh. My leg holes are extremely ugly, have been wanting a cleaner way to do it...I'll try just about anything at least once! Thanks for sharing!

Would this skinning procedure be used for the tourist trade? (Hooped beaver) Would a pelt be downgraded at the auction house if pelted this way? If it was wanted to be done this way, wouldn't FHA put it in their pelt handling book, as a proper procedure?
I may be wrong, but didn't Johnny Thrope have a direct link to the furriers, by passing the auction houses. It seems like I had read that in a trapper magazine years ago.
I sent an e-mail to FHA asking about it, but no response yet.

I tried It a few times and It takes me more time to skin It that way then It does the traditional way. And you still have the front leg holes just like when skinning a coon. And for me it's harder to flesh a beaver when It's case skinned. But give It a try it might work for you.

Ok, I did it! 1st pic is before I trimmed the excess. 2nd pic is finish boarded. Pros: much easier for me to flesh, no leg holes. Cons: major pain to skin, difficult to board. I'll update when it's dry.
