I haven't targeted cats for several years but per Mark June's bobcat video I tried salmon oil in a squirt bottle as a trailing scent when there was multiple options for the cat to move through the area where the set was. Just standing at set i could squirt the heavy oil quite a ways in the direction I though the cat might pass. It's been a few years but I believe I caught a cat at every set I tried it. One catch I had fresh snow and that cat turned at the salmon oil and followed the trail right to the set. Limited experience but I'd definitely try it again. Tried it with coyotes and it increased my coon and possum catchs too much. When trapping cats I catch too many possums and coons any way so I figured the positive out weighed the negative...
Will add I believe there's a big difference in quality in fish oils out there

Fish oil is attractive to all carnivorus/omnivorous furbearers
Castoreum is attractive to all furbearers.

I don't trap for bobcat but for lynx I mix salmon oil with spiked fox urine ( urine and gland ) 50/50, shake it up and it will turn white like milk. Squirt it where you want it, works good on lynx so maybe would work for bobcat too.................

Victor, I would assume this is pressed salmon oil? I know when I’ve mixed certain fish oils with urine there is a reaction that does more than turn white!

Too funny, I have seen some mini volcanoes working up from a 5 gal bucket years ago. Fish oil and some urines can cause you to take note of such an occurance.
You most likely won't do that combo again if you hit it just right.

A great science class experiment.

I've used pressed salmon oil and sun rendered with no issues however I usually keep the squirt bottle inside my parka to keep it from freezing. One winter I bent over working on a set and it squirted quite a bit of it inside my parka and bibs, now I make sure I use a flip spout instead of a flip cap!!!
