My fishing bud who is 55 ish had a massive heart attack on Saturday.

Rushed to cardiac center, where he will eventually make a full recovery. Doctors said he was close to not making it.


Years of smoking, fried food and he is heavier than he should be. Weird thing is, doc said he has a super strong heart, just had a severe blockage.

Glad to hear that he is recovering. I had a heart attack , at deer camp two years ago. The guys met an ambulance, I ended up in Sudbury heart hospital. We have some excellent heart treatment centers in Ontario. If we are lucky enough to get there in time. Make sure he has yearly check ups , with his heart specialist, I do. old243

You are lucky there was good health care near by! You will be surprise if you stop eating everything white how much better your
number will go down.

Loss a buddy this past week talking to him one day, gone the next. Heart attack.

Stop eating anything white...thats a good advice ,carbs are the reason for heart attack and stroke, and diabetes. Everyone over 40 should start watching what they eat because a lifetime of bad eating catches up with you later.

Heart attack is probably one of the better ways to check out compared to Alzheimers or Cancer.,etc.

I have had a surprizing number of friends and acquaintances,and colleagues in both work and trapping fraternity pass away in the last couple of years from various issues.
I guess that naturally becomes a more frequent occurence as we start to get up in age.

Drinking a lot of water and eating better will go a long way for a guy. I see those 100 year old ladies at the casino sucking on smokes and just shake my head.

Ive posted pics of him here holding musky. A very active trapper as well.

My take is that genetics will play a huge part as well. My opa passed two years ago. He was 94, and smoked heavily his whole life. Ate food fried in butter, and didn't exercise much. Tall skinny dutchman. Oma was the same, but passed at 90

I feel like people who didn't win that genetic lottery have to work harder to have a long healthy life.

I am over six foot tall, and have lifted weights for years, so am holding a lot of muscle mass. Normally I am around 240 lbs, but shot up to 258 over the past summer after taking the summer off from lifting.


Am back on it, 1800 calories per day, meat and veggies, walking (running when I drop weight) at least 5 miles a day, and back into the weights 3 days a week.

I'm 37 in June and its time to start being purposeful with my health.

I did 5 miles this morning at 5 am. Snowed a foot and roads hadn't been plowed yet.

Doing what I can to be healthy. Goal is to run 5 miles, and hit 215 lbs.

Get him back on the water good buddies are hard to replace

They are only in their 40's-just look a hundred.
