I think those who already own them are grandfathered?..With one big caveat, you have to register them with the state in a specified time period.
Illinois residents, registering them would be a big mistake, IMO.
Every gun owner is already "registered" with the State via their Nazi FOID card. If you get stopped by the State police with a firearm, but you do not present your FOID card, you can be arrested and your firearm will be confiscated. You can't even buy ammo without a FOID card in Illinois.

I could be incorrect, maybe a Illinois resident can verify.

Last I knew the gun owner license in IL was unconstitutional. Changing the name to I.D. card does not change what it is. Permission to own a firearm in IL.

Here's what I don't get Marty. If in fact Delaware has banned "assault weapons" as in your post I quoted, why would the SAF take them to court over a magazine ban as in your last post?? A magazine isn't much good without the gun to put it in.
There comes a point liberalism has gone too far, we're past that point.

As I read this my dad’s Winchester model 61 pump action, 22 s, l, lr will be illegal because it has a tube feed magazine that holds more than 10 rounds. So I’m suppose to register it along with its serial number, which I don’t think it has one.
Anyone know this to be true? If, after registering it can I hunt with it?
We’ll, think I found the answer. Found the written bill but don’t know if the version I was reading was changed before passage. Is said, lever action, bolt action and pump action rifles were exempt as well as semi action shotguns. Also said any guns that fires rim fire bullets is exempt too. Hope this is what the final bill says, too.

Freedom can be hard at times. After being on this site for awhile, and reading all of the hunting , trapping, and firearm regulations people here have posted on this site., in other states besides NY. I don’t think many here are as free as they think they are., I had 2 ancestral grandfathers who fought in the colonial army during the American rev., one in the famous CT 5th regiment, an ancestor that fought in the union army, a great uncle killed France during WWI, and my father earned 5 Battle stars in WWII in the South Pacific, and his brother, my uncle, who flew 2, 25 bombing missions tours over Europe. So I dont Need to be lectured about how hard freedom is by anyone.

about 85 of 102 counties are Second amendment sanctuary counties , the Sherriff isn't going to do the states work for them if they want registrations and such done.
or it will be a real test of those declarations

I expect it will largely be un-funded and it will mostly just stop sales , which is something it will keep the next generation from having access , which is of course much of the goal.
The real test of the sheriffs' declarations will be this: When a noncompliant citizen adds some extra body cavities to state/federal goons who came to confiscate his hardware... Will that sheriff arrest said citizen? Or help said citizen feed the goons to the hogs? The plain simple fact is that until agents of the state start coming home in black bags (or are never heard from again) crap legislation like this will continue. I'm a bit tired of the hoping/waiting game with the courts when "the document" clearly states that the state has no power to infringe. That tree is long overdue for some refreshment. Mike

I could be incorrect, maybe a Illinois resident can verify. If they are able to track you as a gun owner, what difference does it make if they can't specifically name what guns you own? They clearly want ALL of your guns. They know EVERYONE who has a gun. That is all they need to disarm you. Now they want you to register your previously owned "evil assault weapon" so that they can come after you first.
