I just picked up my Ski-doo Expedition from the dealer today. Problem-MICE. I can not seem to keep them out of the carburetor boxes in both the snowmobile and my Arctic Cat ATV. All air inlets/duct openings should have 1/4" hardware cloth covers fitted.

Mice are a pain in the - Every vehicle, utv & tractors I have, when they come home, the first thing I do is cover air intakes with wire lath. Keeps em out of the air boxes. Wires are another thing, Wife had her new car a week & said the gauges were not working, Brought it to the dealer, They dropped the gas tank & called us into the shop, The mice made a nest on top of the tank & chewed the wiring harness, Not covered under warranty. 720.00 dollars. Tried soap, peppermint, different sprays, nothing worked. I found a mix that TOMCAT makes for mice, The stuff works great, sprinkle around the tires where the mice climb up into the car & keeps them away. Same with our camper, First year we had to steam clean the whole thing droppings all over, Put this TOMCAT all over the camper. no mice.

Doesn't help that they are using soy bean for the wire coatings...... No it doesn't help at all. Another stupid idea, like using grain to make ethanol...save the food for eating and use the oil and NG for burning

Are you a trapper? Trap the mice. Couple buckets with oil in the bottom will get them all. You could also draw in a weasel or two-you wont have any mice if you do that. Once a weasel sets up shop you'll be good for a couple or more years unless the cat gets him.
Forget that fear of gravity-get a little savagery in your life.

I had a rescue call from a homeowner last week that had caught a skunk trying to cage trap squirrels that had been chewing up the wiring harness on his vehicle. Big bushy tail rats can be a problem also. And around the local lakes, calls to catch muskrats that are chewing on boat wiring are very common.

Storytime lmao Ive had trouble for years in past with mice in mine and my son's camper. I can't stand moth balls and they never worked at my father's old cottage. I think the mice played games with them things. My wife had the dryer sheets in the campers and also the Irish spring soap. Glue boards and mouse traps and we still caught mice. We still had mice but not as bad as before sheets and soap?? Couple years ago on a mission to stop the occasional mice. I crawled around under both campers and caulked and foamed any place that looked like even an ant could get in. We were still finding an occasional mouse in snap trap s glue boards my camper and regularly in my son's. My son was pretty frustrated so he ordered some stuff off internet. I believe it's called Grampa Guss?? Anyways he sprayed that stuff around in both campers as per directions. There were some small bags that he put out too came from Grampa Guss. . The spray and bags to me smelled like cinnamon/ Allspice mix ??? Which I can tolerate whole lot better than stinking moth balls which didn't work anyway. That was 3 years ago now and we have had no mice in either camper since. I just got home from checking the campers. No mice in either one this check either so still good.
That fall we first did the spray and sent bags in campers. We were also running bear baits from the campers. So my shed there was full of bait. So also full of mice. We ended up with empty bait bucket sitting out that turned into bucket traps for mice. In about 3 weeks we killed literally couple 100 mice some chipmunks and couple pine squirrels in 4-5 buckets. Later that fall when the Christmas decorations started to show up in stores. I walked in to the entry way at Farm Fleet and was hit by that same smell as the Grampa Guss. Turned out was bags of big pine cones scented for Christmas decorations. Almost to much smell for me but I bought two bags. Added them stinky pinecones both campers my shed and my sisters pole shed.
What we learned in all that. Trap the crap out of the mice outside of the campers and sheds. Kill them before they get in. The buckets caught amazing numbers. Close, caulk seal anywhere you possibly can they might get in. Spray the Grampa Guss to cover any trail mice might follow or come in on. We do the bottom corners of the roll up doors on shed, vents on campers. I also throw the stinky Christmas pine cones in corners under cabinets. And put couple by the corners of roll up doors on my sister shed. The sheds we have not totally kept them out but way less are being caught inside. Haven't had any of the 4 quads parked in my sister shed wiring chewed. Don't believe they been in the boat or camper parked in that shed either. Boat and camper both get pine cones and sprayed.
So get you some Grampa Guss I'd spray it right on the machine wiring. See can you trap as many as possible before they get in shed or machine. The bucket traps will work all winter with pink RV antifreeze in them. If don't have to worry about pets can use car antifreeze. But it cost more. We don't use poison even outside because we all have dogs running our property. And we don't want to poison the birds of prey other predators might find mouse wabbling in yard.
