This is a question I’ve had for a while. It almost seems like in the trapping world, not much is safe from being copied when it comes to manufacturing. You all know what I mean. Someone will come up with a trap design, and next thing you know, someone else is making almost exactly the same trap.
Of all traps and equipment that have been copied, why is it that no one besides Belisle makes their bodygrips with dependable safety hooks? Those safety hooks make them the safest trap on the market. They don’t swing. I still treat them with the respect they deserve, but I appreciate not having to worry about accidents when I’m using belisles.

Yep, cost. Process to make them, more material etc. and who knows, possible patent infringement. I wish all manufacturers used them too and put them on 110's as well.
I wonder if tap dancers walk into a room, look at the floor, and think, I'd tap that. I wonder about things.....

Do a search for Nessmunk's solution for safeties. Simple, cheap, no time to install, and works great Yup, I learned it on Hal Sullivan’s site. Works well, but is a pain to do 6 dozen traps in one sitting! My fingers weren’t right for a week.

I like the solution Seldom Fales uses on his safeties with a piece of rubber tubing.

Forget that fear of gravity-get a little savagery in your life.

I'll admit sometimes I like the loose safeties, you can compress the spring and let them swing over by themselves. That is real handy when the trap is on one of your arms.

I would bet it's because they are belisles safeties I know, but let’s be honest....some companies aren’t exactly shy about using other companies’ designs. Some traps aren’t similar, they’re exactly the same
