that is an advanced stage of chewing lice, worth nothing for fur. if you want a wall hanger, you can cut the damaged area in the hackles, but hurry and get him killed, as he is close to being past the point of saving!

As a side note, I caught three just that color, about four miles north of where I live. And like that one, they all had a good dose of lice. Left them lay where I caught them. i have shipped a couple of them to fur harvesters over the years, they have a color grade for them!

Blonde color phase common in my area.

I've shot/trapped maybe 6 of that same color.
And they have all looked similar.
Ugly.
