Well, somehow either the wife or I must have bumped the garage door opener in the house on our detached garage so the door was open half the night. At about midnight thirty, my neighbor calls and says there is someone in my garage. He has a camera pointed at our garage in a shared driveway. Anyway, this schmo is hauling my DeWalt 12" Miter saw out the door. Well, the neighbor is a great guy and very similar to superman. By the time I found some panties and a t-shirt he had caught up with the suspect and my saw. He approached the the fella, a 6'2", 240# bearded white guy and got him to drop the saw and run. Apparently, by the time his camera picked the guy up, he had already made off with a sawsall a couple of drills and a brad nailer and the saw was his third trip. Not sure where the rest ofy tools are now, but the perp tried to get a neighbor to let him in their house to escape. They did not let him in. Spoke with the folks there and they knew the guy. They gave us the perp's name and I am suspicious my other tools might be at that house. I think they played dumb because they knew their buddy was being followed. Anyway, cops are coming over this evening to pick up video evidence and get a statement from me. Wish me luck!

Probly a good thing the neighbor caught up with him. I had a gun when I left the house. He did not. I was tired and ticked, would not have ended well.

Good luck back in November I had it happen to my house back to back nights, I wasn’t home either night, the first night they broke the door down, the second night they ruined 9 windows trying to get in until one finally broke, between tools, items minimal, windows, and the door it totaled 25000, and the deputy said everything is probably gone and if we probably wouldn’t want them back, and that was the next day.

Are you sure you the garage door was left open? It’s become common for thieves to just pry up garage doors to open them.

So much for Minnesota nice. Around here the neighbors probably would have closed the door but only after putting some fresh caught fish in the fridge for you.

Yep, neighbor's camera footage shows the door go up about 6 PM. I'm sure I moved the opener remote and accidentally hit the button. I guess, that means open season on anything in the garage..
