If you do this you will be docked on put up. Why would a buyer pay full price for that put up? Anyone that thinks I am wrong try it.

With all due respect, why would you put a beaver up that way, even if you are getting it tanned. Sorry, but to me, that looks hideous.

I will probably get ridiculed for this but I ain't nailing a beaver. I staple. Yes after removal I run my fingers around the pelt double checking for any stragglers.
One leg in one leg out on the staples. I can staple a blanket beaver in a 2 or 3 minutes. Spacing is roughly a half to 3/4 of an inch.

The leg holes are double castration banded.

If you choose this method please make sure all staples are removed. The fur graders hate them and the tanneries hate hitting them with their fleshing machines.

I refuse to piddle on things that serve no purpose(especially pleating tails). The only purpose is to have the hide dried properly, not to serve some aesthetic.. Its not to impress anyone. For the fur market, ive got some horrific looking stuff in the shed right now if one tried to take it to a buyer/auction. All my "market" hides are done oval and nice and clean.

Round or oval works just fine. Never do I use scalped.
