I have been scouting the geese every waking moment I can this week. The hunters that purchased the hunt I donated to the FTA auction are coming in town this weekend. I have left the birds alone here since September and have kept my eye on two predominant areas when I've been in town. Between the two areas we are talking about roughly 400 birds. Of course they have went missing this week. I have had myself and 2 others scouting all week and we cannot find them.
Luckily yesterday I ran across a horse pasture pond with some birds on it. I had talked to a friend in September that had done some driveway grading work for her and she had mentioned that the geese were getting out of hand.
I call her this morning to talk about hunting permission and she mentions that her Farrier is there taking care of the horses. She asks me to repeat my name and I do and she sort of hesitates and laughs. She then asks "Do you go to Bible Study at _____'s house?"
I say yes ma'am I do. She laughs again and says he is standing right here beside me, let me put you on speaker phone! Her Farrier is the gentlemen that hosts our Bible Study every Thursday night. When he heard her repeat my name and mention the geese he knew it had to be me.
I haven't completely gotten the green light to hunt yet, I am meeting her this afternoon to discuss. But that connection may very well open that door.
It's funny how the Lord works, but I am sure thankful He has put me in the right places to make connections that will last a lifetime. Here's to hoping this plays out and we get permission!
