1998 toyota tacoma pickup with a hydraulic snow plow. It has 20800 miles on it. Seems to run good, body in average shape. Tried to get a kelly blue book on it with no luck

Any idea of the value on it?

That is going to be tough to value. Is it 20,000 mile truck that plowed some old guys driveway or does it have 20,000 miles of plowing on it? Rust, no rust?

No rust, no salt on our roads. It was used by the school district on side walks and district offices parking lots. There minimum bid is $4,000. I think $4,500 would get it
With the school district owning it i would bet it was maintained well. The seats need to be recovered the body looks good for its age, few dents and scraps but overall not bad. It does need a set of tires

Here in Alaska this fall I bought a 01 Toyota tundra with 150k miles for $2500 and spent $7000 getting a new plow installed on it. Truck is mechanically good but has some body damage. I think $4500 is a good deal.

at $4,500 I would be happy if it's in decent shape and I thought it had been cared for.

Not often you find them for sale you could still rebuild it if needed and be ahead in the future a solid body is a darn good start.

98 was a great year. 3.4 6 cylinder very reliable. Front end are weak point like any yota

Just sold my 99 Tacoma 4x4 for 4000, had 310, 000 miles, I put on the swap and ship asking 3000, and had several calls in 30 minutes, and somewhere in that period a man called from 2 hours away offering 4000, picked up the next morning

98 is in the years of the bad frames. So check the frame. Tap the frame with ball pien hammer, if it solid you can tell, if not hammer will go thru the frame. If solid buy it. That year thru 03 sell good they have the good engines,

Look on the passenger rear shock mount on the frame and along outer side of frame common spot for rot . Great motor got 321,000 on mine bought it with 207,000 10 years ago for 4,300

I've been pondering buying one and putting a 1.9 VW tdi in it. They are the perfect size truck but don't get that good of mpgs.

Just check Craigslist in Oregon and you'll see that it's cheap at the prices you mentioned unless the frame is rusted....if I knew where it was I'd try to buy it at that price

Is it 4 x 4? If so 4500 would be a steal if two wheel drive not worth 4500 imo. I have a 96 Tacoma 4x4 extended cab with. 268k on it and have been offered $5500 multiple times

the frames can easily & cheaply plated. i think thats a good price. my daily runner is an 04 taco trd. i wouldnt sell it that cheap.

There's a company called Saftey Cap that makes weld on replacement parts for all sections of the frame , I just had to get a set of back cab mounts from them for mine. Something for all to remember.
