Anyone have any experience with Skidoos 600 EFI engine ? Going to need a new sled before long and wondered how reliable that engine has been now that its been out for awhile.

The 600 Etec has been a round a long time now and proven itself to be a reliable and fuel efficient engine. Haven't heard anything bad about the 600 EFI.

Personally I wouldnt touch an Etec. A few friends have had them come apart in the middle of nowhere. Hopefully the EFI is better.

I've driven an etec SWT when guiding. Great fuel mileage and plenty of power but lots louder than the four stroke ACE motors, have to run 91 octane if you want a warranty, and even with the little radiator will overheat when driving in warm weather (above freezing). When I was looking I asked on here and several people with the etec informed me that after a few thousand miles they had around a dollar a mile in maintenance and repairs. The new 600 EFI is just an updated etec from what I understand. The EFI is also electric start only and requires a battery to run, so it really has no advantage over the four strokes except more horsepower. I would stick with the four stroke ACE if it was me (in fact I bought a new 900 ACE this year and with two thousand miles on it so far I love it)

I have the 600 EFI in a Skandic, I love it! Lots of power, and real decent fuel economy. Not as good as a four stroke but almost. As far as longevity? I only have about 1600 miles on it, so hard to say.

The EFI is a tuned down ETEC, not running at racing performance, still a lot more powerful than a 600 ACE.

I will probably have to go back to the 4 strokes. Hopefully they have the electrical gremlins figured out now.
