Anyone built one yet ?Like the idea of it but sounds like they really scared with pooch on it when it cam to building files and the ammo. Twist rates being all off and all

I see it as a niche market

it's does 223 better than 223
and for long distance target shooting that could be enough better to make a difference for you

seems all the barrels are made to twist for LD targets also

I guess I would be more interested in 22-250 velocities from a 18 inch AR with a similar twist to 22-250 to send 55 and 60 grain pills about 3500fps

My son has one. Probably one of the better AR 15 calibers with off the shelf ammo available. Valkyrie was developed for shooting 90 gr bullets. If varmits, hogs, and deer are your game and an AR 15 platform is your rifle - the valkyrie beats the .223 in almost every way.

Get the brass before the gun...
I'd just build a fast twist 223...

I built a couple and they both shoot real well with looong .22 caliber bullets. 88 grain Hornadys are not fur friendly.

for me the Ruger SFAR is a game changer in AR rifles that can do better on deer , bear , hogs size game

it stops trying to put a bigger round in an AR but still fit it in a STANAG mag and puts a bigger mag in the AR without changing the overall footprint or weight.

same weight , very similar recoil , but 308win to anchor deer , bear , hogs

especially with MagPul AR-10 mags readily available , reasonable cost and very functional in 10,20,25 round

I except we will see it in 6mm and 6.5 calibers soon enough.

The long bullets have a very high BC and it was made to be a thousand-yard cartridge for the small frame AR15 that would fit in a magazine. Not to use as a hunting load to compete with a .308, it does what it was designed to do pretty well.

I made it with 6.8 SPC brass before it was available.

lets see, we have the wssm cartridges, 458 socom, 450 bushy, the 6.5 grendel. Why? if you want a 308 an AR-10 will be cheaper in the long run.

the SFAR price isn't much if any different right now than an AR-10 and it makes a 7.2 pound 308win
we are at I think 3 manufacturers making the light weight AR-15 size 308win rifles
I don't see this as a trend that will just go away , people have been saying man if I could just stuff 308 power and availability into a 15 size package and now it is.

My 22 250 will roll coyotes way out there. Any further I couldnt hit them no matter what I was shooting

The Ruger SFAR is going to get a run as my next boat gun. I have been running the M1A SOCOM and it’s hard to dispute the 308 in a semiautomatic. I call the rifle my bear spray.

The recoil impulse in the AR platform is so flat. I hope we get a bunch of choices in the chambering here soon.

I have built a couple for coyote hunting. They both have done well with 60gn Noslers and CFE223
