Do any of the Alaska people have recent aurora borealis pictures to share with us southern people? I have heard that they're beautiful this year?

I saw a news article that the sun just spit out a good burst so I imagine they are pretty active this year.

Just left Alaska 2 weeks ago, in the Lower 48 preaching at churches in FL, AL, GA, SC, NC, TN, OH, IN, MO, TX, NM, OR, WA, ID. Currently in Lenoir City, TN. Come down every 4th winter for a furlough or three months to preach at churches that support the missions work in Alaska. Earlier this winter there were some good northern lights.

No red ones that night, but see how bright they were, and that was with the village lights in the picture.

Growing up on the high line here in Mt my mom got me hooked watching them , well mom passed away a few years ago now I couldn't sleep so I got up before daylight to Northern lights covering the whole sky and they lasted for quite sometime , they were green also her favorite color .

No pics, sorry. A friend and I were sleeping in a truck along the beach in a logging area in southeast AK. We listened to whales spouting, one had a funny whistle, there were a dozen or more very close. We heard a low rumble and the truck started shaking/vibrating. You could hear the gem top door flopping, we thought it was a bear. We both jumped out, guns in hand and the sky was a deep crimson red. One of only 3 or so red displays I have seen. The rumbling was a whale with a very low pitch groan, you could feel it in your gut, a weird sound sensation. I have since thought they were reacting to the Aurora as they were very active and vocal that night.

If you see red lights flashing in your rear view mirror, they are NOT northern lights. Pull over.

Thanks for sharing those awesome pictures! Amazing!
