Log crossing work and hey are pretty neat. But how many critters are you missing if you don't set the approaches to those log crossings? If there Is a beat down trail leading to that log would you be better off gang setting that trail? Let's say there is a beat down trail that goes along that creek bank and a log crossing intersects with that trail. How many critters are you going to miss If you only set the log?
I like to set a few dirt sets so I can take the occasional coyote or fox along with every coon that walks that trail. Then of coarse a few BGs set up and down the trail.
So there are your options, and It's up to you how you set It up.

IN some cases those logs are very hard to set up but you can always set up the approaches.

When i set up a log and I do It sometimes If the situation calls for It. I also used BGs on the log but I would drill a hole or just staple or nail a stick with a branch that stuck out to the side. I would also attach the stabilizer. By the time I was going to set traps the critters were use to passing under that branched stick. To much camo around the trap just dosen't work In my opinion.

While you may catch a mink or 2 In those log crossings and I have. A good baited or blind set Is going to catch you more mink.

Nice pics Rat.

Absolutely. Especially where they happen at small tribs that meet bigger water

You may even get a bear to cross on a log like that
