Excellent guys! These ideas for things to see/do are great. Our drive through Montana, Dakotas, and Minn will be somewhat rushed, but will hopefully have a little more time on our return to Idaho. However, I may not be in the frame of mind to do much touristing. I'm also used to driving on roads where I pass 2-3 vehicles every hundred miles. I suspect that this trip will be contending with a bit more traffic. I may not be in a good mood.

X2 on avoiding MSP; too much crime.

Good luck with your trip, I grew up in a town of 700 people south of Rochester.
The mount Rushmore monument in rapid city is one thing I like.
Take I-90 through Wyoming or north of the interstate, the road through story city WY, there's a waterfall on the west side of the bighorns.
If it was warmer you could try the big bicycle trail in lanesboro mn

Jack if you decide to come across the high line of ND and need a place to crash for a night give a shout. You could go through the two armpits of ND, Fargo and Williston. It could be something you would try to forget.

Mark -

During mid-March, I suspect we'll be south of the Highline, but many, many thanks for the offer my friend. Take good care...

See? You can't even attract people to ND with FREE housing! smile

I have nothing clever to put here.

Jack, don't let Miss Lisa forget her shooter if you are driving through Little Mogadishu. I would avoid that place completely if you can.

I would even take him spearing if he wanted. I know some that have come quite a ways for that and stayed at the house.

Minnesota is a beautiful state with all the lakes and such. Went through a lot of it 5 years ago. Too bad the liberals are ruining it or some of you may agree it is already politically ruined.

You will want something short barreled and preferably in a 12 gauge in that rats nest down there!

My girlfriend works at Mayo in the Nuclear Medicine unit. If that's your destination, PM me. lots of drug shortages lately in that dept, depending on what you have scheduled. Lots of people get canceled as soon as they drive into town, from across the country.

If pizza is your thing, I'd give Mr Pizza on Broadway a go. Ol school place that's been there for decades. I've eaten a lot of pizza in Rochester and the twin cities. I don't know of better pizza other than "maybe" Giradonos just outside of Minneapolis...but Mpls is a toilet, so.

Like said "Scheels" is a nice place to roam around if you have some spare time to kill.

If you have a lot of time to kill the drive along the river (from Lacross to Redwing) is nice that time of year with all the Bald eagles...but you'll likely be sick of driving, so.

If time allows or you feel up to it, you could check out Schmitt's, Minnesota Trapline Products or Cumberland's.

If you take 94 you will drive about a mile from my house when you are on 35. If you go on 90, you will be down in the area where Gabby and his brother no good in law live. (CE Elmo)

Personally, I wouldn't pee on Roch if it was on fire. I only go there when it is neccesary such as when we have our spring meeting. It is on March 11 in Stewartville and you are welcome to join us as our guest.

I have never heard the 3rd Grade referred to as "High School". I could see you calling it your "Senior Year" though. smile

In my defence, I was out ice fishing for a week and our organizer put me with a Science teacher in my absence. So I got put with a girl and everyone was peeved but her brother trapped and that is where I meet a member here The Hammer for the first time
