I don't see 460 Weatherby or 30-378 Weatherby the Lazzoroni cartrides either.

I'm really surprised that the 375 isn't more popular considering the popularity of the 45-70, in that the 375 offers more power and has the basic trajectory of a 30-06 so longer range is much simpler, I guess it is because the 45-70 is an American cartridge with a lot of history here and people really like the lever actions that it is chambered in but the 375 H&H or Ruger make a lot more sense as a stopper round that is not so limited to range.

375 remington ultra mag is fun to play with. Will launch a 300 grain bullet at the same velocity a 30-06 launch's 180.

I want a .375 H&H or .375 Ruger. I have no real need for one if I'm being honest but it would be fun to shoot the occasional deer I suppose.

Local Scheels had a Mark V in .460 Weatherby. I met the guy who bought it and he was all of 150 pounds, I saw the gun back at Scheels about 2 weeks later.

Big bore stuff is definitely fun. The 50-140 Sharps is plenty big for me. My buddy has a Ruger #1 in 375 H&H looking for a new home.

My local guy got some 50 BMG stuff in a while back... 8 boxes of ammo @ $40 per 10 rounds and he got 2 lbs. of Alliant RL 50 to put on the shelf.

I toyed with the idea of buying a 50 to shoot... $4k for the rock bottom basic gun. And a lb of RL 50 would make about 25-30 rounds... So $1+ per round just for the powder.

Awesome piece of hardware... But it's $5 to $10 every time you pull the trigger. I decided to pass.

Not a big bore, but the biggest I've built yet. I just finished a 340 Weatherby with a 31" barrel for myself.

I put the first 4 rounds thru it Tuesday checking things and I'm happy with it so far. Wanted something bigger for this barrel but when PTG put the 340 reamer on sale for 60 bucks, that's what I got, lol.

Its the gun on the left beside a 7mm Weatherby I had built for hunting out west for comparison.

While I love my 375 h&h, I don't consider it a 'big bore'. My opinion, bore bores start with 5000 ft-lbs of muzzle energy and up.

I would love to take a 505 Gibbs for a spin just for the fun. But for hunting, I think I would stay with my 458 lott.

Old school safari guys say big bores start with 450nitro, on up to 465,470,500,577 in classic hunting calibers. 375,404,416,425 are considered medium. Those below that are plinkers.

I have 300WSM that is a safe queen. Bought for an elk hunt or two.. 7mag is also not used. I don’t need them in NC. Used to think so.,my .280 and .270 are my most powerful rounds. Sometimes I use a Mod7 in 308. Bread and butter rounds are 7mm-08 and 25-06.

Not to brag but I have legally taken over 200 whitetails in NC since the early 60s. I feel qualified to make a recommendation for whitetail deer.

Have taken a few with .223 and 7w-3 in TC contender and carbines. They work too at short range and heavy bullets.
