I don't think it would have made any difference in the long run; even if Patton was allowed to pursue his dream, there is no guarantee he would have been successful. If his dreams would have been fulfilled, there is no guarantee it would have had lasting results. The Russian/Ukrainian mind is wired differently than the Western mind. Simply changing who's in the pulpit won't change that.

Watch the video and try to get into the mind of these guys and their people. It will help understand their thinking and general philosophy.

I'm sure he saw communism as threat, and probably figured the USSR was vulnerable at that time. It would have been an aggressive action if we would have given Patton what he wanted; you know, "invading a sovereign nation".

While Patton was correct in his assessment of the Soviet Union posing a threat to world peace and the fate of Eastern Europe both he and Churchill were foolhardy to think we or the rest of the world could succeed were both the Grand Armee and Wehrmacht had failed. Nor was the world prepared in both men and supply after nearly a decade of bloodshed.
The only ace up his sleeve was the bomb and history shows that ace would be countered long before anyone could get to Moscow.
