Has anybody had to extend their tongue on there newer skidoos to fit the flapper style receiver on the Northern sled works cross fox boggan? I have one and it split the white Teflon receiver on the boggan where the flapper goes in and it seems like the flapper on the skidoo is too short and the white Teflon is hitting the bumper or something like that.
Thanks for your help[Linked Image]

Teflon receiver? Can that take the strain normal times even? Never heard of one; always metal. Assume it comes with that cross fox boggan?

To your question is the teflon the problem and not the flap?

Not familiar with cross fox boggan but heard they been around a bit so should know how to make a good receiver?

Be interesting to see what others' experience is with teflon receivers.

I wouldnt trust teflon for a hitch. At least not in the rough country.

We make our own skimmers that are just like the northern sled works and I've never seen teflon break. I dont use the type of hitch you have in the picture though. I use a pintle hitch and the hitch from the skimmer is a short piece of high quality rope. Its the best I have ever used. You can get the teflon at Duncans in Whitehorse if you need some for repairs. They will also bend it for you. My son just built his own sled that looks exactly like a northern sled. Duncans will bend it but you have to put it together. Costs less than half what you will pay if you buy a sled.

I had just looked at their site (curious if their prices had went up because UHMW prices locally have skyrocketed) and seen those hitches, I wondered how they would hold up, I've always used metal hitches and tongues myself. If I need to do any repairs I can weld the metal myself, and always have scraps around to use.

I pulled a sled trapping since 1970. First thing I do with any machine I have owned is put the pintle style hitch on before using it. Before the factories supplied them I made my own. Then on the sled I used an eye bolt that in rough country the hitch and eye bolt would not bind up no matter what the terrain offered me!

Flappers break stuff! Pins and clips get lost so carry many.

I love the smell of burning spruce---I love the sound of a spring time goose---I love the feel of 40 below---from my trapline I will never go!

I made a UMHW sled and hitch as well and I cannot believe you could break it. I couldn’t get thick stuff so I bolted mine together out of two one inch pieces. Works great. I have a new expedition and haven’t had a problem with hitch flapper length and it worked on my older tundra as well.

Exactly what Ive done for years. The pintle hitches are far superior to the flapper hitches. The rope I've been using the last couple years works better than the eye bolts.

Ive been using the crossfox since the Canadian Dollar was at par with the ISD. Never broke a hitch. My boys have broke a few but usually smashed into ice.
The new Tundras are really high and I'm thinking of ordering a longer tong for the crossfox. There may be a lot of pressure with the standard tongue.

Any picture? I really like the hitch AKhowler uses on YouTube. That looks like a tough hitch.
