He was a retrieving fool.Also very protective of anything that belonged to us. Ever seen a border guard(canadian/MN.)turn snow white---he made the mistake of reaching through my window for my glove compartment. He was going to embarrass me and make me empty out everything.But he chickened out after being face to face with my 10 month old springer. Tom If my feet aren't wet,I must not be trapping. Come spring time, when ever your snow goes away, and the Timberdootles come back, take her out to a singing ground and watch from 50 yards away and when the bird takes flight rush into the area and let the bird come down to it's spot......the dog will get a smell and a twittering flight away......and you will be set for the fall hunt with a trained dog. Same goes with a grouse on a log, but you have to leash the dog to the spot the bird is drumming on the log. a grouse Prof from Wisc taught me that in Manitoba and the first season produced over 100 ruffies and 200 points of timberdootles too bad it took another 20 years for them to open a season up here.

Yea, Connie wasn’t nearly impressed with the results of this as Cash and the puppy were.😀 Connie was snuggling the pup a little later, in the house, and the pup belched! She wasn’t impressed. I hadn’t gotten that look since she found some frozen beaver pups in the freezer. Imagine that! Keep your boots dry
