Anybody other than me use these in your trapping?

I cable a couple together for beaver drowning weights. Been doing it that way for about 50 years.

Used to use them on trotlines.

Quit when I figured out they laid on their side and rolled on rock bottoms after I lost a few. On mud bottoms they stick straight in.

But they are getting hard to find.

I used to pick then up at a construction recycling place for cheap and all of the sudden they decided they were worth 3-4 dollars apiece. But I'm sash weight rich now though because I just traded 5 beaver carcasses for about 200 lbs worth!

I would use them attached to my trap chains about 10 Inches from my beaver trap. A beaver dosen't swim very long with a 10LB window weight dragging It down.
10 feet of chain staked out In deep water and It's lights out.

^^^That's pretty much the description on how I use them. They vary from 4-10 lbs. Most of the ones I have are 5-6 pounders

Dad and I use to wire rocks to the chain, and we had the same effect. They don't swim with 10 pounds or more weighing them down.

Used them years ago as weights on the end of the drowning wire. Work all right on a rough rocky bottom or a soft mud bottom, but I had a big beaver pull 50 lbs worth up on a bedrock bottom once and was sitting on the bank when I got there. Warrior is right, they will roll on a smooth bottom.

For open water beaver snaring I make special snares with a drowner lock incorporated in the snare system. It's added so it will freely slide towards the snare lock. For sets where the beaver is crawling up on the bank. Drowner cable is set up first. Then beaver snare is S-hooked to the drowner lock on the drowner cable. Then two sash weights are S-hooked to drowner lock, slid down to snare swivel, and lay on the bottom near bank.

Beaver swims/crawls through snare, snare tightens as it continues to climb bank, beaver turns around, swims out, snare slides out on drowner cable, window sash weights slide down to tightened loop.

Use the same set up in fluctuating water with a float.

Good to use where you've got idiots that might steal your equipment.

I used them on my mink line.

I got myself a seniors' GPS.
Not only does it tell me how to get to my destination,
it tells me why I wanted to go there.

We use them when we roll up electric fence. Tie one on the end of the wire to keep the tension even as we roll it up. They pull smooth like a little torpedo

I like to tie a trotline between two trees. Use window weights to pull the main line down and keep it tight
