Hello Everyone,
I'm new to the site and to using conibear traps. I recently purchased
Bridger 155 for Ohio to use on ground hogs. I have a standard setting tool
but the ends seem to big for the smaller spring ends. Is there a different tool
for different brands? These spring ends are smaller than Dukes. Thanks.

Grind the hooks on the tool a bit to grab the small eye.

you should be able to set them by hand without the use of a setter.

All of the above suggestions are good. I've found the Bridger 155s much easier to set by hand than the 120s. Which I set by hand because I don't want to bother with setters. If you have difficulties setting by hand either grind down the setters, make your own to fit, or use a rope. I learned to use a rope to set conibears when I was a wee lad and couldn't set them on my own. Still tend to carry one in my pocket when setting 330s by myself, even though I set them by hand. I've never got caught in a 330 but it is good insurance when out on the line by yourself to get out one handed. And unlike traditional setters, you can stick a chunk of rope with a loop tied in each end in your pocket and never notice it.

The standard 330 setters are too long for that size trap. They make a snaller setter thats much easier to use for them.

All bodygrip traps can and should be set by hand if you're a man of average strength. It's all about technique, not brute strength. If you're a geezer with arthritic hands or a 11-12 year old then maybe some type of setting tool would be prescribed.

Maybe as Beav said you should be able to set them by hand, but it is a whole lot easier to use setters. I am not sure if you can still find them
but Sleepy Creek made a setter for 110s or 120 that work find on those and the 5x5. If you are setting a bunch of them, and it is cold, or if you are old like me,
those setters are pretty darn handy.

I have a setter from Fleming and I have used them on 155's, 220's, 280's and 330's. I tried them on a 120, and they fit. I have a mix of traps and the setters fit on anything I have.

I'm going to get the RTS setter. I use 160's and no way I can set those springs by hand. I use standard setting tool but it's getting a little tough for me now. I can still do it with the standard tool but at 64 with some lung issues it's getting harder.
