It should add some insulation between the steel and roof. I don't know about current prices but the asphalt roof I was quoted 10 years ago on my 16/12 pitch A frame was over 6000. And prices on materials have really gone up. I put that one on myself and saved 3000.
My house, dad's house and the lean to on the barn at the farm all need roof work especially after that last wind storm. 1/3 the lean to on the barn lost its roof. I would like to go with metal on all of them but figured the price Amy be two high.
when I got steel on my garage in 2017 it was as basic a gable roof as you could get nothing through the deck , ridge vent and through fastener steel 2x4 nailed down with 5 inch ring shank nails to the rafters over the existing roof
I found the cost was about double the materials , it could be a bit more than that now with labor the way it is.
it took 2 guys about 7 hours to do and trim the garage is 20x27 with the pitch and eves it added a little more it figured to more like 24x32
I had no gutters to take off or anything , as simple as it gets
any valleys , vents , plumbing , electrical that needs to go through the deck I would expect to add cost
what would materials run you and how many things are there to roof around?
America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.
I did a new roof on one of my building in July of 2022. 1120 SF using 29 gauge steel with ridge cap, eave trim, vents, screws, etc was $3600 for materials.
I can say you don't want gutters on a steel roof where it snows unless you have the little snow stoppers on the metal. Otherwise the snow all slides off at once and ***** your gutters. First hand.
Standing seam or Amish style roofing? Standing seam is much more expensive. Myself along with two other guys had the roof on my 700 square foot cabin done in about five hours start to finish.

Had the same problem. You don't want gutters on a steel roof.
As an American I'm growing tired of our ancestors being compared to the migrants of today.

Figure up the steel needed and Menards has a calculator to give you the price as if you ordered it. Steel is not cheap today. I had a guy price some gutters last year 2 straight 50’ pieces the quote was $800 I thought that was crazy base on the materials needed.

OK no gutters so what catches the rain that drip off the roof??

you can do gutters ,you just need to put snow stops on , make sure you put the snow stops 6-12 inches inside your wall that way you don't get ice dams on the eves
here is a video showing what they look like

My barn has a lot of roof and it's steel. It also has commercial gutters on it and no ice stops. I guess we don't get enough snow to be an issue. I have seen the ones that protrude up from the middle of the lows on business. Some times all the way across others just above doors.
I have gutters on my house with a steel roof and have never had a problem. No ice/snow stops. I have some large amounts of snow come off at times too. My gutters are set a little lower and the snow goes over them. Rain water, in them. My steel roof has ben on 15 years.
