Anyone know what these parasites are in large mouth bass? There's a pond across the field from me that has only crappie and LM bass. Just about every single bass has these yellow cysts that mainly manifest in the fins and around the mouths, the crappie are unaffected. It reminds me of the same parasite that causes rice breast disease in ducks.

They are yellow grubs, a type of parasitic fluke brought in by cormorants, heron, egrets, etc

Gotta live up to the nickname...

Perch and some walleyes have them here. Crappies seem immune.

Bluegil , and bass get them bad in the warmer weather.
Everything I've read is they won't hurt you once cooked.
I still pick them out as I clean fish.
Cold water seems to kill them, best to catch your fish before June around here.

Very common in ponds and certain small lakes around here. Mostly in largemouth, Sunnie's and perch

More comon in lakes with shallow water. In lakes it drops off the bank I don't see them in fish. I believe it's becuse the blue heron don't hunt the deep lakes like they do shallow ones. So there are less of the parasite that they poo out after eating fish with them. It's part of the parasites life cycle I read.
