It may, but it is a long haul to get to a shut down road. I would head fore a open road. If there is a bunch of stranded vehicles on the freeway it can take hours to get them cleared out. It has cleared up in Bismarck, but the freeway is still shut. I just looked.

Thanks for checking for him. I hope he sees this. Or has a number to call and check along the way too.

If it has stopped snowing there, it will help them get roads open. I just was told it is sunny at the big lake too. I have waist deep drifts where it was clear yesterday morning. It is still snowing hard here.

Suns out here that will clear a lot of drifts off of the roads it was slippery early in the day but it’s sunny and above freezing now. Consider I-90 it’s only going to get better now.

It snowed almost two feet , down in the valleys , since yesterday up to now. The satellite views shows the huge swirl , looks just like a hurricane. Most all the western regions from the west coast are affected to various degrees. The snow has let up a bit, but where the wind starts, east of the divide, is where Jack will encounter drifts and low visibility ...a real pain.

Once the snow melts on top the drifting here is about over then he could scoot across SD quicker then ND it sounds like. He’s going to Rochester so it’s not out of his way taking 90.

Hope he sees this

SD would certainly a better option today.

I saw that they opened it up to no travel advised. It is still coming down here hard, and blowing.

Sharon, I lived in Gt Falls MT nine years and a year in Galena and three in Fairbanks AK and I have never seen blizzards like we get every year in ND. Some times the snow is still moving 48 hours after it has stopped snowing. We have wind and snow here. Gt Falls had wind, but it was often a chinook and the snow pretty much all melted. We do not get any melting chinooks here. It may crust over, but that just gives the next batch something to slide on. I am sure I have six foot of new drift in places. The over passes on the freeway drift shut tight enough you could not get a snow machine through at times. It can change so fast here it is hard to believe.

I believe that totally, MJM. I'm sure houses are built with wind direction in mind .

These March blizzards seem to bring more snow accumulation than mid winter storms. We have not lost power which is a plus and it doesn't look like the temps will drop to -20 when the wind switches to the north this time. This storm is really going to put a hurt on the deer herd in my area.

This one, the wind was out of the SE to start. Then swung more E about the middle of today and is now NE. Most the time it is NE and swings NW and really blows. We get three or four of these a winter. We could easily get at least one more. I do not show any real cold with this. It was 27 for a high today here. Which makes the snow stick to the road. It makes less of a mess of roads when it is cold. If we do not get a warm up to crust this over after it stops, a lot of it will move again. It might be two week before it does, but it will look like all the snow is sliding. That often sticks to the roads if the sun is out this time of the year. Still snowing and blowing here.

North50 North of you? The radar shows snow up to Canora even a little north. But I have not spoke to anyone.

Weather.ca has their radar show the system

north of me is Lake Winnipeg or the fishermen refer to as Big Windy
on Thursday there was 90 trucks from ND/Minn on the one approach to the lake
Guess those boys are going home Sunday

March has normally 70% of the winters snow fall for us.

Seeing this sure makes me feel better about leaving Jamestown last night instead of waiting till this morning to make the trip home. whistle
I was questioning my judgement last night as the east bound lanes of 94 were partially snow covered from the south wind, then heading south on 29 got real interesting north of Watertown with the east wind blowing snow across the entire interstate. I thing the couple hundred miles of pour driving was a better choice than no driving today. May be a bunch of women wrestlers stuck in Jamestown for a bit if them winds don't let up. crazy

The freeway is closed between Dickenson and Bismarck again. I will be surprised if more does not close now that it is dark. Andrew Eastwood, since you made it through you are good to have it behind you. It is not real nice here and hasn't been all day and last night.
