you can make a slick plywood board to slide/ come-a-long the bear in. On the old refrigerators bases they have rollers that fit into the channels of the box liners to make life easier

salvage on that car is not very much outside of the cat =$300 + metal 300$

You might be right. There are a ton of them on the road, it's got a good motor, transmission and AWD. I'm expecting an offer from a salvage yard any time, we'll see what they say. Of course they know I am over a barrel. It would cost me $200 in gas and two days to hook up a trailer and go get it. That's an option also. If I can get $1000 for it I'll send them the title in a heartbeat.

Bernie, if you get a chance, get on the Tacoma World website. They have a cult following with hundreds, if not thousands, of threads pertaining to rigging your Tacoma. There are some great ideas for storage and organizational plans on there with good photo write-ups to go along with it. Had my tacoma for about 6 years and wish I would have bought it sooner.....

Nice truck you bought but..., you may wish you would have got a Tundra.

I can't add much to rigging your Toyota Bernie, but I want to say I'm glad you and your family didn't get hurt in that accident.

judging from the impact there is no motor left or trani that will work, the spindels in the drive will be bent as well
so you have have a back window and 4 tyres
auto corrected your price

Sold it for $1000 to a local salvage yard. They will pick it up for that price as well. Sending them the title in the mail today.

Keep in mind that Tacoma has a composite bed the only issue I ran into was a terrible rattling noise on mine as the plastic bushing fall out from under the beds I replaced that one with a rubber one that fixed the problem. Mine gets good milage but add a load it drops quickly pulling an empty trailer even makes a difference in milage.

Overall it’s dependable as can be my off road model has way more junk then I ever needed but I wanted the crawler package so the rest comes with it. I’d buy another one if I had to just not willing to pay the current prices they want for a new one you will like it.

Thanks for the heads up. I'm with you on the mileage, it seems like it would be better, but it's only a little better than my F-150.

Drive it with no load you will notice a different milage outcome.

My f150 gets 13-14 mpg, my 09 tacoma gets 18-20 mpg. Wouldn't trade it for the world

Bernie, mine also has a different color camper shell. Silver truck with a red camper. It was the only camper I could find that fit it for a reasonable price with LOTS of searching. For some reason those tacoma shells are a hot commodity.

Red is my color, so I think I'm just going to paint the rest of the truck red and leave the camper be.... grin

Gotta live up to the nickname...

If you can trade or buy a topper with side opening windows. It makes a big differance trapping getting things out of truck or your bear hunting. I know side window toppers are expensive but believe it would be your worthwhile in things being handy. Glad you made it home and pray for your wifes healing
