Well seeing that the only water one could trap bait within 30+ miles of Fargo (red river has zebra mussels) and the fact that no one can transport bait in from Minnesota I can understand it.. I wonder if brothers 3 in Valley city has minnows?

When you're visiting your lady friend this spring head over to the Arkansas river and catch a bunch of skipjack, if you do any catfishing Gary.

Dang, we have to buy them by the dozen. I'll bet no less than $5 a dozen for medium's.

When the pond minnows are sold(by the gallon), they come to $52.00 a gallon. Or 1/2 gallon for $28.00.

A gallon is about 1800-2000 minnows. Good for seeding your pond for live feed.

What are you buying, we’re talking fatheads (perch, walleye and crappie minnows.) I think so anyway.

When I was a kid, working at Pats Bait and Tackle. It was me counting them in the early 90’s.

I don’t remember how much they were then, but they are around $2-3/dozen now. I just use minnow traps now when I need some. So not sure.

There has been a major population change in the Red River minnow species in the last 3 years = almost no emeral shiners or spot tails harvested creating a frozen minnow blip
over harvest in the spillway at Fairford River has crashed that population
Zebra mussel and spineywater flea have created some real problems

Yup! But, not everyone has access or resources to do so.

Mediam dace are 7.50 a dozen here. And the new ontario bait fish zones are stupid to say the least. Now they are talking about not allowing any live bait for trout including leaches or dead frozen. Go figure.
