Hats off to you Marty if at 66 your better than ever I turned 59 and my fitness level was not good, decided to turn that around. If I can then anyone else who has not major disabilities can do the same. BP was 120/60 the other day at the dr. Stronger than many of the younger guys at the gym including the 20 year olds but the young guys today don't push too hard. Recovering from some lower body issues but should be back hiking/rucking soon enough.

Don't drink, don't smoke. get up everyday and just keep goin. Once you stop and get lazy your done. My Dad started smoking at 12, usually cracked the first of many beers long before dawn when not working, or the minute he finished if working. Ate everything fried, or smothered in gravy. Hard work all his life. Made it to his mid 90s, and still did what he wanted until the last year. LOL, had to take his extension ladder away at 88, I stopped by and he was on roof, 2 story house. He always told me, A lotta things might kill me, but stress ain't one of them. Unfortunately, I'm wound tighter than a clock!

I just turned 35 and I feel like life is almost over. Wish I was 20 again. The last 5 years have gone by in a blink of an eye! every year is a smaller and smaller fraction of your life you 4 and a year is forever 1/4 of your life your 15 waiting to turn 16 and that year might take forever the flip side is no one is 40 waiting to turn 41 or 45 waiting to turn 46 , no waiting is happening when my grandmother was in her late she hadn't experience any slow down in now fast a year passes , it only seemed to go faster and faster

I am 60 and still working with 25 year olds. I still ride horses and Hunt Fish and Trap, Soon I am retiring with a full Pension and moving back to Wisconsin so we gan watch our Grandkids grow up. Then I will starton my Bucket list. Already did the Parachuting thing in the service. Now I want to go on a Horse Back Hunt out west and then finish spoiling the Grandkids. But I wish to die Hunting Fishing and Trapping!!!
God please keep they 19 fallen UBB miners out of trouble up there.

We are heading into tough times. This thread should be repeated again in a year. Be thankful if you survived the last couple years because what’s coming if you own anything make sure it’s paid off.

It's funny you would post this, I'm having the same feelings. I'm only 33 but the work I've done has been hard on me. This past year I made more money than ever, it came at great sacrifice. Now I'm writing a big check for taxes, between the Taxes and insurance cost I'm not sure if it's worth working hard or just skimming by. Feel like I'm at a cross roads of pursuing money, business and "success" or doing what I need to in order to care for the family and doing the things I enjoy.
For the past couple years I haven't trapped, I've been stressed by work, haven't even hunted much. I had to do that to get some stability back in my life but I'm not sure I want to go on this way.
Work hard at doing what you love, the money will take care of itself. I learned young that no amount of money is enough to compensate you for stress and giving up your passions and your loved ones. You still have time to make a change, start today.

Each Sunday at 2 p.m.. I meet with my business partner/mentor. Used to be 3 p.m. for three shots. After a recent stroke and change in meds. it is now 2 p.m. and no shots. This guy traveled the world staying with tribes in huts, was a pilot and a diver. Now he is on oxygen 24/7 and does not stray far from home.
He keeps telling me how young I am and makes comments about what he would do if he was my age. I am in my late 40's and feel just like the song says I can be "just as good once as I ever was". But I also feel like a big decline is inevitable. For you older gents/gals any advice as to what I should do while i am still in a position (at least mentally) to kick a little rear end?
FYI I am a happily married dad so head out the gutters! lol
I know weird post but hey. OK do the mountains and everything you can not drive to, But most important, start incorporating younger hunters into your travels. They will keep you younger and help pack out game.

2 things I started doing that have really improved my life are Jiu Jitsu and joining EAA, the experimental aviation association. I'm not a pilot but my dad flew gliders and my brother took some training so it's always been an interest. Just a bunch of (mostly) old guys who hang out and build airplanes together if you're lucky enough to be near an active chapter. You'd be surprised how common they are, even in smaller towns. Check them out, it's a great community and the people tend to be very interesting! Also try to stay young as long as possible. If you don't have a lot of time to invest, just do some kettlebell workouts 3 times a week, do some stretches on the days between, and go for walks while taking business calls. Try to integrate it into your life so it doesn't take up your already limited time. Eat more veggies, eat less junk. Sleep well. You probably don't need to hear this stuff but so many people seem to ignore it.

Very good advice! Don't stop working everyone/not joking. When I say i have been making good money for the last several years so I can afford things, I mean I have paid off all debt and have majority ownership in a successful business and own our 100 acre farm which is now a income generating property. I expect the next several years to create opportunities for those in position to take advantage. But again I agree not a time to be crazy financially!
