Weed? That's bee feed.

Yup on dead nettle, often confused with similar looking henbit.

its edible. if you want to boil some. chop up some of those little wild onions growing right now to boil with them. strong flavor in both. people either love it or hate it. hen bits is a lot milder. chickens and turkeys love both.

AMen on that! My bees are working it hard right now. Also chickweed. About the only game out there right now for them.

Some farm fields, a little North of me, have many hundreds of acres of purple dead nettle covering them in the Spring, before the crops come up. You can drive for hours by fields full of it.

Easy to vote your way into socialism, but impossible to vote your way out of it.

Never saw it here until farmers stopped plowing and started using round-up. Now the fields are purple in the spring before they plant.

There comes a point liberalism has gone too far, we're past that point.

Henbit and dead nettle are related members of the mint family hence the resemblance but two completely different plants.

That's what I thought it was called. It will take over your yard if you let it. It's edible?

Not creeping Charlie or ground ivy, though they will grow into a purple mat in the spring, it used to be used as a hop like herb in ale.The pictured plant is definitely purple dead nettle. My back garden is full of it, it is edible, but never bothered to try
