I would think more than just fisher are being poisoned; fox, owls, hawks, everything that preys on rodents.

Eh...wot?

Al, it's going to be tough to slow that down, Look at the road salt problems around the Lake George area, For years they have peeached about stopping the use of salt on the roads, The only town that has enough money to buy that so called safe salt is The town of Bolton, Who knows what in that stuff . With as much salt that spread, It leaches to water wells & the Lakes.

I've used " one bite " rodent bars in my Chicken coop for 20 + years and have never lost a cat or seen a dead animal or snake around our farm.

It has come to my attention that fisher are dying in New York and Pennsylvania from poisons being used by farmers and orchard owners to protect against mice, red back voles, and other vermin. Unfortunately some fisher are eating these critters and in turn being killed. My sources are very reliable, not just a rumor. Maine did a fisher study in 2020 after fisher were found dead in New Hampshire. I donated I think 14 fisher carcasses to the Maine state furbearer biologist for testing. The study tested for a variety of different rodenticides and canine distemper. The study may still be ongoing, I’m not sure. Most of the fisher I donated had trace amounts of rodenticide and no distemper. The one I caught behind my house in Central Maine agricultural country had higher levels of rodenticide. If anyone wants more information Id be happy to share it with you. Maine’s furbearer biologist Shevenell Webb would be a good person to contact too as she ran the study from what I understand.

I grew up in Northern Wisconsin and worked for a Neighbor Dairy Farm. He never used Poisons. He just had Cats. They kept the rodents down.

God please keep they 19 fallen UBB miners out of trouble up there.
