Anyone own one suitable for cleaning gun actions? I don't know anything about these and maybe you guys can point me in the right direction.

@scuba1 has one , maybe he can weigh in when he sees this

I have a co-worker with one , they can be great tools , I just haven't gotten around to putting out the $ for one yet

how clean do you need to get things to keep them functional is the question on it's value to you and how many you are doing.

America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

That's what I'm wondering. Is there a good one out there that won't break the bank.

I had a small one from Harbor Freight. Worked well for small parts up to the size of a Winchester Model 12 frame after the stock tang is removed or a Beretta 686 action. I always used diesel fuel as media. Always amazed me how black the media got in a couple minutes even when I thought the parts weren't that dirty. Black to the point of not being able to see the parts to be cleaned. I just bought the larger model from Harbor Freight (about $180). Haven't used it yet. I need to get a media other than diesel. The new one will hold 6 liters of fluid and comes with a decent basket. Now I won't need to dance around cleaning larger parts. It's a very worthwhile tool.

I never thought about using one on guns, but any part for our racing engines are cleaned this way, even our oil lines.

Where my son shoots pistols they have a gun cleaning service, free if your a certain class of membership, but relatively cheap otherwise, After removing grips and the large pieces they chuck the gun into the ultra sound and it comes out cleaner then new.
Is it necessary? , nope, but they do work...

A friend of mine fixes small engines for a living, lot of troubled carbs due to the ethanol, he ultra sound cleans with a hot medium, says they come out sparkling and work better then ever, especially on machines that don't have cheap replacement carbs....

I have one that holds about 3 gallons and I use it for a lot of things not just gun parts and brass. I just took a raw water pump out of a marine generator and it looks terrible. I’ll throw it in there for an hour at 70C before I start to strip it down. carbs as said above is another great application. Mi paint spray
Gun has had many a spar day in it as well
When I gat home and start working on that pump I’ll take some before and after pics if I remember it by then

I have some gummed up shotgun actions I'd like to clean. Stiff safeties and whatnot.
