Weird with all the snow we had this year and the huge drifts the ground is not even soft. We moved wood yesterday with a bobcat skidder and it did not tear up the area, the small creek behind the house is barely flowing. The ground is sucking the water as fast as it’s melting most years the sod seems mushy when walking on it.

The deeper draws and shaded areas still hold some snow and ice but no big runoff there even.

Ground seems to be taking the water here to.

We are in mud season here in the Yaak, breakup started about 3 days ago, it's a mess. There will be no getting off the gravel for some time !

If you want to see runoff wait a couple weeks and go look at rivers and creeks coming out of the rockies, sierra nevadas etc.

Last I seen we are at 128% in Beartooth mountains water equals snow pack. It’s been pretty warm last 2 days and windy so melting.

From what I have seen there is plenty of run off. My slough below the house I would guess is up five to six feet already. I-94 over by Hebron has water running across it for 100+ yards. Most the water will show up at the end of the melt. It always does.

The Big Sewer river is out of it’s banks. That could be liquid ecoli though.

Beginning of big flooding in NE South Dakota. Thawing is just two days old and the end of my driveway and the county road that it connects with both partially washed away yesterday afternoon at peak thaw. Have lived here for 23 years and this has only happened once before. This year I still have at least 5 feet of snow in my shelterbelt left to thaw. The Yellowbank River flows just below my home and it is beginning to roar. On Saturday two of my great nephews walked on the ice below my house, today at noon the river is wide and at least 4 feet higher than the ice was on Saturday. I expect it to rise several feet more and if we develop an ice dam at one of the bridges downstream it will jump 10 or 15 feet in hours. I expect even worse flooding in the Webster to Sisseton region as they have several feet more snow than we did. Most of the water near where I live will flow into the Minnesota which will flood at least somewhat across the state into the Mississippi. Water north of me 30 or 40 miles will flood through the Red towards Lake Winnepeg and it sure seems likely that system will escape its banks. Perhaps the Jim and Big Sioux that dump into the Missouri will also get a big flush as the weeks warm weather continues.

Driest I've ever seen it here this time of year. Tillers on the wheat are starting to turn yellow and die. Never in my life have I seen wheat die because of lack of moisture in spring time here in Central KS. Not much chance of rain in the forecast here.

Yes Sir,
I am just north of you and I deal with CG&S they are a customer of mine. This drought is no joke. It runs from Abilene up to Washington and then back down through Oklahoma and west Texas all the way to Lubbock. I was in Lubbock last week and it was a (This word is unacceptable on Trapperman) scape last Tuesday wildfire in Amarillo and dirt blotting out the sun in Lubbock. As of last week 19% of Kansas hard red wheat was showing as fair!,,,, buckle up folks oh and Kansas alone produces more wheat than the total acres of spring wheat up north combined..

We are about done with the melt off in central SD I drove a guy back to the State Pen in Springfield on the NE border today no signs of flooding or any stock dams that were out of the banks. Did see a few mink hit on the roads but besides a few places in the ditch with standing water pretty uneventful.

Pushed some to stakes in the ground today. Didn't need a hammer. Wide open area.

When its warm and windy we get a lot of sublimation. This year the snow is going fast the last few days-has not got below zero at night for 3 or 4 days-half our snow is gone now but not too much run off-most of it sublimated last couple windy days. The snow that is left is saturated.
When its warm and raining and no below zero nights-Look out.

The Sioux will fall fairly fast once the melt is over if no rain. But you hit the nail in the head it needs a flush badly. The Jim will stay flooded for months unfortunately. I just began exploring that river by boat last fall and liked what I found. Some good cats in there. Its a featureless river which makes it challenging. Might be june or july before the banks show again.
