Never understood harrowing up natural food to plant food that won’t last. You’d be surprised what grows naturally and has more nutrients than anything planted. And it’s a heck of a lot cheaper, lol. There’s not a month that there is something available for wildlife. I could understand maybe a fall plot when food sources are scarce, but never during the Spring. I’m guessing you don’t have many deer? If you did, that plot would never get above ankle high if that. I'm in this boat too. For the amount of money and time spent growing a temporary food source the same amount of time with little to no cost could be spent improving what you already have. I also gotta wonder how effective they are in AG country. I have corn, soy and alfalfa fields not to mention apple orchards all around me. Spending a day in the woods with a chain saw is much cheaper and quicker than buying a tractor, implements, seed and soil amendments.

Broadcast and drag/cultipack?
I’m planting plots for two landowners, my goal is to have the spring plots finished by May 1. Got them sprayed, fertilized and limed. Just need to till and seed.
Good luck hope the plot germinates nicely broadcast, drag

The best disked and seeded trail I’ve ever seen! Have you thought about putting a pop up blind next to the big woodpile on the right? No I have a big denali stand that goes on the tree just to the left of the side by side.

I have 5-6 does that are resident. I use the food plots to keep them on my 40 acres and raise their fawns. EVERY buck seen or killed on my place is traveling thru. You got does you get bucks !! Bucks and bears you should know that . Other than lime and fertilizer I have 35 bucks in 40 lb of seed. Never understood harrowing up natural food to plant food that won’t last. Pic only shows less than half. The original opening was cut to build a cabin. Little over 1 acre total counting the roadway in.

Already had the tractor and disc.

… that’s going to be the best foodplot ever planted Uncle Jbyrd!! Naw, he just wasted a bunch of time planting that mix but..., he knows best. I'll post pics of the fawns and the velvet bucks then you can decide if I wasted "MY" time. I've planted that plot last 3 years normally just turnips or winter wheat. Remember all the buck pics I have posted in the past . 95% are standing right where that 4 wheeler is parked. Sorry for all the post Been busy last 2 days and didn't see all the questions.'t

Two B&C and 150’s and 140” 8pts on natural food sources. And yeah, we hold deer. In fact we hold so many deer we have to make it a rule each person take a minimum of 5 does. Guess different areas require different practices. We’d rather invest in fertilizer to help our native crops and trees vs harrowing them up. It wasn’t until I started hunting at this particular place that I learned all nature can provide. There are times throughout the year that even the supplemental feeding gets ignored for native crops. We only feed the quail every 4 weeks during the Summer months. Too much food out there. I guess if you don’t have any food, then you have to plant something. Although I wonder how they ever survived before that. Dove I can see planting a plot for. Ducks, just find the natural food source. I hate field turkeys, lol. Killed very few on a field, unless you consider a burn as a field. I prefer the hardwoods but do kill them in the pine woods. My largest spurred to date came from a swamp that he never left until I carried him out. Different habitat, even for you and me WannaBe. Your upper coastal plain soils, high % of agriculture fields, more intensively managed pine forests are much, much more productive for wildlife than my lower coastal plain sand, very few ag fields, and swampy pine plantations. Your deer are much bigger (body weights and antlers) and its all based on your better soil. Deer here have a winter and a late summer stress period. Your area of Ga rarely has either stress period.
Thank God For Your Blessings! Never Half-Arse Anything!

Sure are a lot of professional deer hunters and wildlife biologist who suggest food plots ! Zero crops on my place and 240 acres across the road in beans . Soon as the beans are picked BAM my plot gets hammered. Putting it out now allows it to grow. That guy Dr deer even will suggest putting out plots in the middle of 400 acres of corn !!! Mine is stuck in the middle of 15 acres of woods so it be all right . Had not seen a single turkey on my land until this past fall. Then they where in the part that had the wheat , oats , rye grass. I didn't shoot any of them during the fall turkey season because I want them to stay around. Just like I don't shoot any of my doe deer. on me.
