I'm all in for food plots.
But that (mix) you planted is a waste of time!
Please post pics in 2 months from the exact same spot as the original pic.
Let's see what comes up whistle

Lime aint gonna do squat without fertilizer.
Kale,sunflowers,turnips need lots. That's a shady environment .
I expect some germination but other then rye/clover, a total waste of time/$.
50$ to the TM discretionary fund from you or me (TMan) members will vote that by July 15, that plot with that mix will look like crap!

swampgas chili and schmidt beer makes for a deadly combo

You have to remember that 1 out of 3 Democratic Voters is just as dumb as the other two.

Guess different areas require different practices. We’d rather invest in fertilizer to help our native crops and trees vs harrowing them up. It wasn’t until I started hunting at this particular place that I learned all nature can provide. There are times throughout the year that even the supplemental feeding gets ignored for native crops. We only feed the quail every 4 weeks during the Summer months. Too much food out there.
I guess if you don’t have any food, then you have to plant something. Although I wonder how they ever survived before that.
Dove I can see planting a plot for.
Ducks, just find the natural food source.
I hate field turkeys, lol. Killed very few on a field, unless you consider a burn as a field. I prefer the hardwoods but do kill them in the pine woods. My largest spurred to date came from a swamp that he never left until I carried him out.

As you said - you have plenty of deer. Not everywhere does. That is the point - not the same everywhere.

And just because you have food plots does not mean you kill your turkeys in the openings. And as far as ducks - nust find the natural food source - maybe your neighbor wont let you hunt it. In my neck of the woods - millet out draws smart weed 10 to 1.

… I like to find trails with fresh sign coming out of cover … get that wind right and sit there close… sometimes the trails end at a food plot… sometimes a dropping oak or a corn feeder…. in any event it’s meat in the freezer and money saved lol

So every Tractor Supply store and sporting goods stores have deer feeders for sale down south. I went into a Buc-ees gas station the other day to try it, and had to take a picture of the pallets of corn out front and send them to my friends up north. The local Walmarts have pallets of deer corn in stock. I’ve never hunted where feeders were legal, but it seems like that would be an easy way to hold does? I have no experience hunting down south, but I will say, the bag limits astound me!

Spin feeders do hold does - all year. Not so much bucks. Sooner or later, you can catch almost every coon in the woods at a feeder.

Exactly my point . That pic is buck bait. How many times have you heard the story
"I watched that deer all year and the neighbors killed him". Guess why he went over to the neighbors? Bet he had plenty to eat on the property he spent the summer on. But Many a guy has fallen because of the need to breed....

But my main point of this post is not to "KILL" deer here . I get more from checking my cams or looking at my phone when my cell cam sends me a pic. BUT if the right one shows up . I'll sit for days in that clearing . Did last season . Bout froze to death last day until I killed the little brother to the one I wanted.....
