depending on your age, a hip resurfacing might be a better option...look into it.... had a hip resurfaced at age 43....it's the only joint in my body that doesn't hurt.... ...but I have zero restrictions on movement /actions

Had bilateral hip replacements 5 years ago, was back on the boat working in 6 weeks, Just had bilateral knee replacements 8 weeks ago, cleared for work now.
Find the surgeon in your area that does a lot of them, follow ALL directions exactly, do pre surgery exercises, do the post op physical therapy and don't be afraid to push the reps and weights, within reason.
But make no mistake, the first 2 weeks are challenging for both operations, it gets better fast though....singles are pretty easy as a rule, and hips are easier than knees.

I had my right hip replaced at last Oct and was hunting deer in a just afew weeks. The hip really never hurt much before the surgery but I was told my back problems were being made way worse due to my hip and left knee being beyond shot. I really never slowed down much with the new hip... took it slow for a couple weeks and then just did my normal routine. Now my left hip seems to be hurting more than it should on a 66 year old plum wore out older man (me). Guess I'll be replacing that one also.. then my other knee. I am glad I had such good luck with the knee and hip ... and yes it did help with the back..... somewhat !!

Just had my other replaced three weeks ago...like the others have said....don't wait... get it NOW. You'll be healed up in no time. BUT do some PRE-HAB work...walking both front and backwards...side to side shuffle (done slow), lifting light weights to tolerance...it really speeds the healing process. Do as Mike said. I have had both replaced. For the first surgery I did not do much to get ready. For the second surgery I trained a lot more, and it really made a lot of difference. You can train as you see fit or ask the PT what would be the best things to do. Good luck Mac

Still doing light deadlifts and leg presses.

Looking a 2 complete replacements, getting my second opinion next week.
