What do you guys do during the off season? I’m by no means a serious trapper. Most of the time, I’m lucky if I have more than a half dozen traps out at any given time. But I am absolutely going mad without being able to check some traps. I seriously miss it, and can’t imagine what it’s like for you long liners. I’ve even resorted to trapping mice for my goshawk! At least it’s something!!

I bought the local sporting goods store, and that gets all of my time. Otherwise, I’d set more traps. Beaver are my favorite, but right now, it’s mice, chipmunks, pack rats, and rock squirrels!!

Come on October!!!!!

Why do I carry 10mm? Because shooting twice is just silly.

In Colorado it might need to be ground squirrels if they aren't protected.

Go fishing! Better yet, take a kid or elderly person fishing!

Long lining is what makes you appreciate the off season! But then there’s still damage jobs to do.

I nuisance trap most of the summer, most of our water is cold spring feed, so most of the beaver I catch during the summer I keep,

Besides fishing, gardening, hog hunting, planting food plots, bush hogging, etc - one of the best things my state ever did was approve predator control year round on private land - either by shooting or trapping

I'm like a lot of you- I do a lot of other hobbies during the off season as well. Mainly fishing, falconry, and golf. But man I sure miss trapping.
