My Coin Store gives us 2 cents for Wheaties

This post got me to thinking . When I was growing up I can remember going with my dad to a coin dealer about once a month to see what he had in new and dad would always buy a few that’s been 45 years ago , dad has been gone now for 5 years . So this afternoon on the way home from work I stopped in and Checked on mom , while I was there I asked her about the collection dad had . She said that all the coins was still there so I looked at a few and found books on top of books full of coins from buffalo nickels to mercury dimes ,several half dollars books and sliver dollar coins . Then I found a gallon jar full of wheat pennies and some steel pennies in the mix . I have no idea of the value or where to even begin to look for a coin collector around here .

There's a cool coin shop in Harrisonburg, VA. I don't collect for the monetary value more for what looks cool.

Got a bunch of wheats figured there worth a cent

Got some wheat pennies And I would say I get some maybe 3 to 5 every year .I found a 1937 nickel laying in a parking lot maybe 3 years ago And the really strange thing about that is my brother had recently passed away and he had a1937 nickel on his key change which became my property after his passing I did not have much interest in old coins until the last several years ago And old couple that had allowed me permission to trap their land informed me that they where planning to sale their property and move to a retirement village On one of the many times I would stop to check in with them to see if they where doing OK OR NEEDED anything he ask me if I would be willing to help them get things packed up for when they moved He told me he would pay me a by the hour rate if THAT WAS ok WITH ME i SAID i would be willing to help but not if paying me was part of the deal I said I did not want a job as I already had enough to do I said I did not want to be obligated to help I said I would be willing to help if I could and maybe if I saw something I might want we could agree on a price His response was they did not have children so he did not think it would be a problem with that way of dong busines One day he said he had some old silver coins and other old money The bank said they could only pay face value and the coin collector store where giving so much low ball numbers he did not want to be bothered with them that much It was some wheat pennies silver coins llke dimes quarters half dollar and a few Morgan and Peace dollars It amounted to $80.00 something dollars face value I told him I was not a coin collector but would take them for that price Later he said he had another group of old coins this was more Morgan and Peace dollars He told me he was asking $180.0 to$210.00 something for the total items I SAID I was not into coin collecting and did not want to tie up my savings that way . I ended up buying them from him and he had others I turned down Once I was exposed to it I SEE WHY PEOPLE ENJOY IT .

I got a 1920 wheatie in my change from breakfast at the restaurant this morning.
I've got probably 20 to 30 rolls of wheat leaf pennies over the years. Some were my Grandfather's and some I've found.
A few steel pennies also.
