I’m definitely not a Turkey expert but that’s a cool looking bird! Definitely darker than our Merrians.

It's colored and marked exactly like a Black Spanish Turkey, which is a domestic breed of turkey, probably because it is, or is at least cross bred with one. I frequently see pictures of domestic turkeys posted on line, that people shot while hunting, especially Narrangasset and Royal Palm crosses.

Most of the heritage breeds of turkeys, which are lighter than the meat breeds, if free ranging, will go off and breed wild turkey hens. They are heavier and stronger than the wild Toms and can easily whoop them in a fight.

Probably a feral, to truly know a biologist can tell them.

I’m with Keith, saw some guy that posted he and both his friends had all taken “white” turkeys all on the same day and posted pics of their “once in a lifetime hunt” they were all Royal Palm’s, lol.

The only thing I see different is a lot of farm raised turkeys done have beards like your pic posted. I’d definitely have had a biologist look it over.

That first picture almost looks like the coloring on the ocellated turkeys in Mexico.

Beautiful bird !!

I had the same reaction to the first shot. The blue light is almost the same hue as the ocellated.

The feathers reflect beautifully the light refraction . I especially like the tail colours and how the light blends from blue to black halfway across.

The black wing feathers look just like a Florida osceola. Very cool bird. Congrats again!

Gotta live up to the nickname...
