If we don't get more than a half an inch in the next couple of days we are going to start swathing all our wheat. It's not going to make much hay but it going to be something. Had crop adjuster out today has the potential to make anywhere from 15 to 30 if we started getting good moisture from here until it's done but that isn't looking likely. It's going down hill fast. Ponds are going dry, pastures aren't looking good. No alfalfa to cut or brome. Worst I've seen it here this time of year in my life. Gets worse south and west of us.

I would gladly send you some of our moisture if I could.

I have nothing clever to put here.

Ranchers west of us are liquidating cow herds pretty hard already. Heard of some stockers already coming of grass in the Flint Hills because they are running out of water. They turned them out hoping for rain and haven't received any to speak of. Good number of pastures south and east of me haven't had water to turn out on since last summer.Anyone have a cowboy position open?

Shame. Atleast beef prices are decent for those who do have to sell. Makes sense now why I'm seeing so many pairs for sale from Kansas and Nebraska.

I've heard of 3 farmers up here that have met with their insurance adjuster and they had there wheat adjusted between 2 and 4 bushels per acre. I don't think rain will save our wheat crop up here at this point. There saying that if they take the insurance they can swath and bale it, but can't pasture it. Local sale barn the last 3 weeks has average 400-600 slaughter cows and 300-350 pairs and bred cows through the ring each week. There consignment list for tomorrow looks like about the same number.

Just north of Abilene here. The drought is no joke, went and sprayed some trial stuff on wheat that won’t make it. We have rain chances from. Tuesday till Thursday we will see but I agree the wheat won’t benefit from any rain now. Beans and milo may if we get some rain but it is getting dire… mulberry trees no leaves yet and same for locusts.. weird year so far…

I’ll pray for rain for you, we farm on sand and we are ok if we get enough rain, which lately we have been blessed.

I've been wondering why the Arkansas River has been so low this spring. Plenty of rainfall here at the tail end. Sounds like not so much at the starting end. Hope y'all get some rain.

Dry here in northern alberta. There was little to none run off from the snow melt and we are hot and heavy fighting forest and grass fires. It is still early to be writing off any crops and things could turn around in a day but rain would sure be welcome here as well.

wow sorry to hear that....we have had the snowest year on record..just 10 days ago some of the wheat farmers here was dumping soda ash on there feilds from crop duster planes.. trying to melt the snow because the winter wheat was going moldy under the snow ...getting warm now with alot of flooding..ranching / farming is a tough bussiness
