I own a company and pay for a bunch of folks health insurance. Since Obamacare went into effect our rates have skyrocketed. Just met with the agent yesterday and sure as crap the plan is going up another 20%! These t.v. ads for the market place with all these people saying how they have a great plan now for nothing or close to nothing is starting to sour in my stomach! Anyone else who actually pays their way in life feeling my pain?

Did your rep go over the utilization factors and offer a wellness program discount? I wouldn't be surprised if there was an uptick in er and diabetes care. Those are always 2 of several factors when premiums go up. Lots of er visits can be done at urgent cares and drs offices but people often chose the er for the "convenience". Over utilization of er causes premiums to go up dramatically.

Health insurance was my career.

Side note... yes Obamacare caused premiums or outof pocket costs to continuously climb for ever single type of plan thanks largely in part to expanded medicaid and allowing adult "kids"(26 yo) to be on mommy and daddy policy. There were a few years I've seen costs go down for various plans but that was mainly due to various wellness programs and strong emphasis and education on when to go to the er.

People will go to the er just to get pain meds

I started working full time in 1987. Full benefits. Full coverage medical and dental. With a retirement plan. This was the norm. Non of the full time employees collected any type of government hand outs. Moving forward to present day. Over 90 percent of our employees receive some type of government assistance and or health care. This is with a spouse making over $40.000.00 a year. Also we do not offer a participating retirement plan. TrappingThomas. The Obama insurance plan was to reduce or eliminate good employers offering private insurance plans to there employees. Our so called health insurance is just that. Pretend insurance. It is tiered not by a particular plan. Tiered by your salary. The more you make the more you pay. Another Socialized garbage program. Fortunately for myself my wife and I have the means to keep ourselves covered with supplemental insurance. The problem I have is this government hand out for the able bodied working class. Creating a society of government dependent adults way before retirement age.

I sold group health plans for Prudential in the 80s and 90s. Been cussed out more than a few times.
Back then we had medical questions and pre-existing condition exclusions. Lots of people were uninsurable at any price, even kids of employees. Maternity benefits were optional also.

I noticed the control (rate wise) to force PPO over HMO plans (or do I have it reversed). Do not want you to pick your care provider! Also, there is once again a big incentive for me to hire young over old folks. The agent told me our average insured age was 48 and I may want to review that. I said I just happen to be turning 49 next week ahole. In case I am not obvious enough I hate insurance and not that long ago we had a president that said by law you had to buy it! Even if it does not make sense for you to do so!

I took a full time job even though I didn't want or need to work full time just for the insurance. I had a few things I wanted to get checked out at the doctors so I chose the best plan which is about $200/month. I went to have a basic checkup with some blood work done. I was charged a $20 dollar copay. But then I was surprised at the end of the visit to be whacked $150+ for the blood work. Apparently my insurance only pays 80% and 20% of the bloodwork cost was $150??

Illegals get it all free and don’t deal with the stress we deal with paying for insurance premiums. It’s only getting worse every year.

Should sue the average cost for a premature birth. I think it is over $400,000.

i pay 270.90 per month, I do not have to pay any co-pay, my insurance covers 100% of my health costs (which would be staggering considering how many times I've been in the hospital), and I may go to where ever I please. When I purchased my policy my agent told me I had the Cadillac of health insurance plans. Since I am over 65 I have Medicare for which I do have to pay an annual deductible, I don't recall what that cost is, I think it is around $250. My insurance usually increases a little each year, usually around $15 or $20.

I got myself a seniors' GPS.
Not only does it tell me how to get to my destination,
it tells me why I wanted to go there.
