Thoughts on this. Do you tape the muzzle of your rifle to keep snow, rain and dirt out?

In the Nam we used condoms, or sub small water balloons, much easier to use

Mainly snow for me .I am always alert to loose bark on a tree you lean it into .Tape is GOOD

Duct tape keeps the snow out.

I use electrical tape.

I haven't in a long time

mostly because I haven't hunted in deep snow in a long time

While trapping , some places were hard to get into.
Sometimes slipping and sliding down a slope were part of it.
My pistol would have to be checked before use all the time.
ELECTRICAL TAPE did help a lot, a pain some times to always remember to use and to check, but worth it.
As a kid around 10 , a friend blew up the barrel of his 410 because it got plugged with mud.
I always checked my barrel from that day on.

Cloth surgical/bandage tape for me. Easy to camo with black magic maker, pencil, or a burnt stick.

I use disposable finger cots.

Electric tape also , it's darn cheap insurance .

Always never go without having them taped and carry tape to make sure it is on at all times.

Tape or balloon on the flinter.

What snowy said. Tape it and have some tape along.

Black tape for me. Done it since I was a kid. The one thing I didn't already know that I learned when I took hunters ed, an old guy helping out there told us all about taping over the muzzle. Just shoot right through it, the only gun I don't tape is my long range rifle,which is the only one with a muzzle brake on it.

if you call them finger clots the price per unit goes way down

Same. My LR/brake set ups are too cumbersome to go through the thick stuff. I don’t really use them for hunting. Gophers are fun though…

Been using electrical tape for years. Keep an extra piece on the barrel so I can replace it if I use the rifle in the field and yes I shoot right through it.

One thing you do have to watch in cold weather is condensation. I know of one case where ice formed in the tip of the barrel next to the tape. It wasnt as bad as a total barrel obstruction but the guy did have to get the tip of his barrel cut off and re-crowned because of the split.
