Been using electrical tape for years. Keep an extra piece on the barrel so I can replace it if I use the rifle in the field and yes I shoot right through it.
One thing you do have to watch in cold weather is condensation. I know of one case where ice formed in the tip of the barrel next to the tape. It wasnt as bad as a total barrel obstruction but the guy did have to get the tip of his barrel cut off and re-crowned because of the split. Should be alright if you let the rifle climatize eh? Instead of taping in the warm cabin or truck and heading out into the cold.

The situation I was referring to happened in Alaska in late fall when the morning temperatures were quite cold. Guy was a brown bear guide.

Also, the finger clots may not get flagged as a gun related purchase by your bank or card company sadly enough.

I have never even heard of doing that. Kind of surprised that you all shoot through it and it doesn't affect accuracy.

I have never even heard of doing that. Kind of surprised that you all shoot through it and it doesn't affect accuracy. I first saw Jim Shockey doing it. I bet the air pressure in front of the projectile would blow it off before it exits the barrel. Would need a fancy high speed cam to see it.

About the :35 sec. spot in video.

Yeah not the deep snow y'all have for sure but I grew up in snow country... not Alaska style snow but still, lol. Also would be a good idea for when sloshing around in swamps chasing coonhounds.
